Thx Di for the background on George Friedman.

the brilliant insight on the nature of the universe has little or nothing to do with the birds and the bees, but rather our reasons for being and place in the universe, purely philosophical  thoughts.

Sorry that I don't have 'purely philosophical thoughts', perhaps I'm not elevated enough.

« Pour échapper aux agitations et aux déceptions, Sérénus s'est jeté dans la retraite et la solitude. Il y retrouve l'inquié- tude et l'ennui » (taedium, fastidium..)

So I asked my Quebecois Partner to translate those lines for me to make sure I understood through the cultural difference.

So I will reiterate I don't have ennui, I haven't dissolved into neither tedium nor solitude.

Yes I can say that we all sufferer from Covid fatigue and deeply miss personal connections.

Me, (but I'm blessed with a stellar partner, an amazing DOG and 2 felines that speak English and obey mostly. Never a dull moment.

I stay home. No one knows what the final chapter will be in this Pandemic. What we should do is wear a mask (to protect others).

It's not ideal but it's reality.

This may go on for a long long time. Dig in, happiness is what you make around you.

I agree we have to change things we've been doing for a long time.  To protect yourself and others is the wise thing to do.  How many times have you thought " this isn't what Christmas/Thanksgiving/Easter is suppose to be about!" Maybe make this thinking time to find  better options.

We have to adapt or this Pandemic will go on forever. You can still go for a walk, feed birds, look up at the stars, read books, fall in or stay in love. Use computers, phones, etc. to connect with with others.  Wave and smile.

I wouldn't mind conversations with someone who has traveled out of the country but not in a restaurant, not in person.

You are very right about the new health threat, except we are not trading but adding a major complication to the virus. Like you, I fear that the coming holiday season will a) make many people more reckless, and b) make many more depressed and lonely. I feel particularly sad for teenagers, an age to explore life, sex and yourself. Those are experiences you cannot save for later, once gone there is no repetition. Young adults can postpone many of their dreams, older people may see their golden years get “rusty” but hopefully have their memories to fall back on. And yes, we are tired of this scurge, but hopefully one day we will go back to our favourite hangouts, if they are open.

Somehow, some way, some day, life just has to return to normal, even if it's a new normal.
