Is there a new way to transfer files from your Flash drive to your computer for MC if you are on windows 11 and BF has updated their security?  When I try to do it the way we used to, (directions above)  it keeps switching from Elephant\MidnightCastle to BigFishCache\MidnightCastle, and there are no files with the logfile.txt etc.  I lost my Thor game and played it a little to make sure it was working and now I can't get my old game back onto my computer.  What am I doing wrong?

The whole issue with game save problems would be resolved/avoided IF Big Fish would have backup servers!!!!!! (And, they should!) Any company running a business without redundant or backup servers is just plain irresponsible. <---my opinion, of course

Yes, if the heart emoji was not enough, I really echo AEGram on this! I have now progressed to Level 12 about to hit Level 13 where I can play the rooms again and am slowly VERY slowly, gaining progress on the Challenge. I will definitely take a Screenshot if I ever regain anything close to what I had, which would mean that the BFG troubleshooters would have to reply to my message and I am not holding out any hope of that in the next few months despite the 3 days message. I was able to proximate on the amount of coinage and diamonds and knew I had all the pets (thanks to earlier advice from AEGram).

One good thing to come out of all of this was that I thought I would have to get a license and pay to upgrade from Microsoft 8.1 to Microsoft 10 on my PC and this was not the case. A very long overnight upload and many updates later, I am now on Microsoft 10. I may get frustrated with the game and leave it for long periods but will continue with my slow progress for now or until BFG gets back with whatever they can give me.

Actually SamSLB, it would probably help if Big Fish actually had some customer service too.  I asked for their help getting my husbands game back up and running on May 27 and never heard from them.  I asked again just before the Anniversary for Elephant Games started and still haven't heard from them.  I finally got his game up and running, but, you guessed it, the game was lost and reset to level one with a new number.  I wish Elephant Games could move everything to a new vendor who actually has customer service.

But I am still hoping that someone can tell me what I am doing wrong that I can't get my backed up info on a flash drive to transfer to my Thor game that I lost in the wonderful game manager update.  If I can get mine, I might be able to get my husbands game back.  Someone help me please!

I think I had brainless time with getting my husband's game up.  I am so used to doing a right click for copy and paste that I forgot to look on the lines above.  Copy and Paste is up there and once I figured it out I did ok.  The only problem was the old computer with his old game would not come up.  The screen came on, but the keyboard and mouse wouldn't work to get it any further than the wallpaper.  Nothing else was on the screen but the date and time.  I don't know if there was a problem with keyboard and mouse communicating with it or if the old thing was just dead.

First:  As has been mentioned in several different posts/threads.....there is no "game save" located on our individual playing devices. For Android and iPad users, the only recourse if you lose your game ON YOUR DEVICE is to reload the game and ask BF to transfer the game progress from the old user ID to the new user ID on the new game. ...............For PC, if you can access the User files you can capture/save the information in the AppData\Roaming\Elephant Games\Midnight Castle folder. Previously, we had thought you needed all 3 file items located in that MC folder (but NOT the Content folder). But, I've recently learned that your user ID and friends list is housed inside the save.db inside the Midnight Castle folder at the above location.

So...IF you have a copy of that save.db AND ...IF the game had no issues loading, you could download the game to a new computer to establish the files/folders in all locations and then copy that save.db file into the Elephant Games\Midnight Castle folder. When the game is launched, there will be a huge download as all files from the BF server is delivered to your device for playing the game. Your entire game will be intact.

HOWEVER....If there is an issue when playing the game. IF you get a message that there was a problem with your game save. Then, when you launch the game from your computer, the ID will be sent to the BF server....the BF server has no record of that game because the game save didn't make it to their servers....as a result, the server will assume it's a new player starting the game and deliver the opening narrative of the game at Level 1. When you reach Level 6 and John is introduced, your friends (from the file on your computer) will connect to that new game.

In this case, there is absolutely nothing you can do to recover that old game. Only Big Fish or Elephant Games can do a rebuild of that old game with whatever information you can provide. Most likely, you will get a fraction of what you had. Your event albums will be entirely empty. Pets and avatars will be lost unless you can document/prove or remember which ones you had.

So, in answer to your first comment about your lost Thor game....you aren't doing anything wrong. There is no game save for YOU to restore the game. The game is lost. Contact Elephant Games for a rebuild because they are more generous than are Big Fish techs.

Second....regarding the above. IF you or some computer knowledgeable person can boot the computer into safe mode, perhaps they can then navigate to the User name that was used to log onto the computer....then to the AppData\Roaming\Elephant Games\Midnight Castle folder and capture/copy the save.db from this location.... it then can be deposited in the same folder on a new computer that's created by downloading the game to that new device. As in my post above, there will be a large download as the game is delivered to this new device. The game will be fully intact...all inventory, progress, coins, avatars, pets, album items.....everything.

But the above statement^^^^^ again, is ONLY applicable if the game was not having issues being delivered to the old computer.

ONLY the user's ID and friends list are stored on our individual devices. Everything relative to the game...progress, inventory, album info, avatars, achievements, coinage, pets .....everything other than your friends list is on the Big Fish servers. If their server has a problem, then your game is lost.
