Re: Friends Christmas Rooms

Hi, I downloaded the Christmas event this morning & then payed my Christmas rooms, including the newest one. I was able to get into John's room & played  that ,but tried 20 of my other friends' rooms & got the "Your friend doesn't have a Christmas Room yet" message on each one. Over the last couple of weeks, I have also not been able to either give or receive gifts . Has anybody else had this? If so, & you managed to fix it,  I'd be grateful if you'd tell me how!

Thanks

Hello Bagpuss,

Normally I would assume your friends probably haven't downloaded the update yet. But if it is all your friends, it would be strange if not even one of them had the Winter Event.

I have come across this problem when I had a wonky and erratic internet connection; it was okay as long as I didn't try to enter the Social page to give gifts. But then it would correct itself after quitting the game and re-starting.

It is as if the social part of the game (i.e gift-giving and Friends' Private Rooms) is hosted on a different server than your own game; I see it sometimes during the events, that I get the please wait-notification when entering my friends' rooms, but not on my own rooms or John's. John, apparently, is hosted locally on your computer along with your own rooms.

Generally, when some receives the "friend doesn't have a Christmas Room yet,"  it means there's an issue uncorrected on that friend's computer.

When the Devs were working on the software, PC players frequently had the items from their wish list flushed. The solution was to just re-enter what items you would like gifted to you from a friend.

However, sometime back, there was also a glitch relative to the Event rooms.....The friend's wish list had been wiped, BUT, they also needed to go into their own private room, activate the slots, click on something, then exit that slot, and deactivate the slots by clicking the "on" button to turn it off.

Also, when slots are activated, you can just click on the pencil at upper left and change the name of the room to some personalized name.

This seemed to resolve the issue of a friend's room not displaying when in the events area......the bad part of this problem is that the friend sees no issue with their game. THEY see whatever room they've selected; they may or may not have yet discovered that their wish list no longer contains items.

Dear AEGram,

Thanks very much for your reply! I waited a few days to see what happened, as every time I got into the game, as soon as I started to play I had no internet. I could spin the wheel & do the HOSs in my rooms & John's, but, when I tried to do anything else, such as other friends rooms, gift, receive gifts etc, my internet connection went immediately . We live in Greece , in a concrete house, & my computer is two concrete walls away from the router, so the internet is a bit unreliable. However, my dear husband, who knows about these things. said it sounded like the graphics card. He removed it, connected the monitor to the onboard graphics et voila! He also said that I don't really need a graphics card, as the other games I play (lots of Big Fish strategy games with Vikings running around doing stuff) don't need one & , obviously MC doesn't either. Happy Bunny me!

So glad you were able to resolve the issue. I would have never suspected your graphics card....Kuddos to "your dear husband!!!!"
