Young Frankenstein -is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks. The screenplay was co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder. Wilder also starred in the lead role as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Peter Boyle as the monster.

Bat Truffles

13"-x-9" pan fudgy brownies, baked and cooled
1/2 c. Chocolate frosting
Oreo cookies, halved and stuffing removed
11 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
2 c. Black sanding sugar
28 royal icing eyes or red M&Ms minis

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. In a large bowl, roughly crumble brownie by hand. Mix in chocolate frosting and gently knead mixture until evenly moistened.
  2. Using a cookie scoop, portion out 1 tablespoon brownie frosting mixture and roll into small balls. Insert two halved Oreo cookies on either side to create wings. Place brownie balls on the prepared baking sheet and freeze until firm, 2 hours.
  3. Remove balls from freezer and let come to room temperature, 15 minutes.
  4. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 5-second intervals. Dip bat brownie truffles in chocolate and dust with black sanding sugar. Decorate with royal icing eyes or M&Ms.

Halloween Harvest Hash


  • 1 (12-oz) box rice cereal, like Chex
  • 4 cups pretzel twists
  • 1 (7-oz) bag original Bugles
  • 2 (4-oz) boxes Reese's Pieces
  • 2 ( 9-oz) bags autumn candy mix
  • ¾ cup margarine, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 275.

  2. In a medium bowl whisk together margarine, brown sugar and vanilla until combined.

  3. In a very large bowl combine cereal, pretzels and Bugles.

  4. Pour sauce over mix.

  5. Stir gently, but well.

  6. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 until crisp and brown.

  7. Remove and allow to cool.

  8. Add candy and stir well.

  9. Store in airtight container.
