What is the situation in NE regarding the farm land? Couldn’t get over the tv coverage I saw. We have had a bad year up here in ND. Still got crops in the fields and a major storm is moving in. Was going to ride to KS and visit some bike museums and a former forum member but the road conditions in your state spooked me. I’ve also been wanting to ride the Smak-Dab run from Lebanon KS to Rugby ND. Maybe next year. Marcus was the forum member I spoke of. Saw him and his mom when I rode to Dodge City KS for the Cannonball run lay over. Will try and stay in touch.

Johnnie, it's hit and miss as far as farm land goes, along the Missouri, Platte, and Elkhorn Rivers it is a mess. There was a large creek that flooded Kearney badly. I'm on the north coast of Nebraska, between Sioux City, IA and Yankton, SD (I know, right?). In our area there are rolling hills which are well drained and we were late getting the crops in but did get planted. I just started cutting soybeans yesterday and it is beginning to rain now as that big system rolls in. Several roads were closed in NE because of water over them and bridges being washed out. Hopefully next summer will be a better ride through NE. Highway 12 from Willis to Spencer is my go to ride. Then on to Valentine or north across Ft. Randall dam to Dakota.
I feel badly for the farmers who have been affected by the weather, this business is so capital intensive and the young guys are having a rough time. I'm in my 60's and pretty well established, but the markets and weather are beating up my retirement accounts a bit!.
Take care, Dave

Wish all farmers the best Dave. I tell people that if you like eating then your involved in agriculture.

Karen,
In Sept. '18 I decided apply to maybe get some benefits from Veterans Affairs "VA". I figured after a 50 year wait, it wouldn't hurt anything. Was I ever wrong? I was in the artillery and served in Viet Nam. Long story short, I am still waiting. Last Wen I had an appointment They sent me a six page letter. The first page was to me, The rest were to the hospital. I was to be at the hospital at 1:30 to sign in. The appointment was at 2:00. I was there on time. Sounds good so far. They told me that I was early and ha to wait. Turns out the Doctor wasn't to be at the hospital until 2:30. The left hand what the right was doing. But typical.
Later,
Jerry

So goes bureaucratic red tape, Jerry. Since you are VA, don't stop trying. Ever. You served your country and you are entitled to compensation. Let me know what happens.

You can contact your Veteran service officer. They are very helpful solving VA problems.
Assuming they have VSO"s where you live.

Karen,
Rats, I had a message typed and about ready to post and I did something wrong and it disappeared Oh. well. Today is veterans days down here. the local public school had a program and introduces all of us. Then they treated us to a noon meal. It was the same the students got. It was very tasty and filling. This evening I am going to the next town for a rib eye steak meal. I am taking my niece as a guest. The only cost was a call to register. That is fair so they may have an idea of how many might show up.
Well back to work. Or is it back to play.

Veterans day is Remembrance Day here. Same difference. Canada, the USA and Britain were allies. Other countries as well. My daddy, Cpl John Gerald Kennedy fought in WWII. He is buried in the Field of Honour (sorry for my Canadian spelling). We buried my mom's ashes there as well.
I am pleased that you got a good lunch with the kids.
Steak with your niece? I am so jealous right now.
