I received mine yesterday and installed them. It is a straight forward install, nothing real tricky to figure out.

Took er for a spin this afternoon and my legs are thanking me. Much more comfortable. I am pleased! Well worth the money for this 6' 5" tall guy...

I lowered the brake pedal as far as I could. There is a brake rod extension in the kit and I think the overall length is greater than when the floorboards are in the stock position. That probably doesn't make sense, yep it should be longer but with the floorboard forward, it still is longer as compared with no extension and the floorboard in the stock position. I hope that makes sense.

I screwed the rod all the way in to the master cylinder. Its OK but I certainly would like a brake pedal extension that would put the pedal at the front of the floorboard.

Take a look at this. I also added Highway Blades to stretch out even more.

Thanks, I see this moves the floorboard forward also and not just the levers.

It moves the boards and the pedals , also tilts the boards upward just a tad which is nice,Now if i can figure out why the bike dies when I put it in gear any gear I will be ready to ride.

I dont know what or how adding the controls would make the bike die? unless the tranny is out of synch?

Niw i know why my kickstand was down DA Brainfart Thanks goes out to Jayks1 for helping me out.

A special note about the extenders, b4 I purchased them I measured 3 inches foward, just enough to clear my yamaha enginge guard bars I thought, but I am going to have to tweak my bars as the foward movement of my boards seems to be about a quarter inch to long for my bars .

If I cant tweak my guard bars they will stay off and the foward control extensions will stay on ,they are that good for me.

The extenders will move the boards out and foward tilt upwards in the front of boards some from the bike, and the best part besides bieng moved foward which is much much better is the upward slope of the boards now they are level at the rear but slant upwards towards the front. At 6 ft 32 inch inseam, they are the perfect length and it looks like more ground clearance for the boards.

will try and tweak /or move my hiway bars foward 1/4 inch this weekend to fit with the extenders.Might have to add a plate? but if I can not get the bars to fit ,they will stay off ,as the longer foward controls benifit outwieghs the bars with foot pegs.

That is disappointing. I have the Yamaha engine guards, and I was thinking about picking up the forward controls as well. I guess I will see what you come up with.

I was also going to buy, but with the info of not fitting with yami bars, i'll wait for your next post. Hey what abut a california bike with the smog cannister? Do you think thats in the way also?

After trying to re- install my yamaha highway bars ,I would have to bend them or make an extention somehow. So I am selling the bars instead.1/4 inch difference would have fit.

The extended foward controls are just to darn comfortable  not to use.  the advantages of the extended foward controls are =

1. now when I put my legs down at a stop my legs go striaght down to the ground , no spreading them over the floorboards. very nice.

2. My brake and shifter pedals are in front of my feet now also very very nice. I am 6ft.

3. the floorbards now have a slight upward slope at the front of the boards, which makes the riding posistion nicer, eliminating the need for my highway bars and foot pegs,.

4. I would also think a little more ground clearance is achived ,as the front of the boards are now higher?

If someone makes a straight horizontal highway bar it woud work with the extended foward controls as the yamaha ones lack a 1/4 inch clearence at the bottom area where they bolt onto the bike.

Very Happy with the extended foward controls.  hywman/mike

What part of the foward controls hit the highway bars. Is it the foot boards? Or is it the new parts that move the boards foward? What I'm trying to get at is, can we just grind or modify the parts used that  move the boards foward insteads of loosing the highway bars?

I put a bid in for the next set on ebay. But don't want to give up the highway bars.

Thanks

The brake side will hit the bars base at the foot board and the brake light housing , the shifter side hits the board on the bottom side structure. Believe me The only options would be to add extender plates to bolt the bottom of the bars to, or a good way to bend the bars foward at the base 1/4 inch without hurting the chrome finish. If you added  extender plates to the bars then the bars may not clear your front wheel on hard turns.

After you install the extenders as I did the foward movement of the boards and brake and shifter pedals, is much better and definetly outwieghs the use of my highway bars.

I sold my bars already and will use the $$$ to buy the chrome floorboard covers and brake and shifter chrome covers.

If you can bend the bars at the base foward 1/4 inch without damaging both sides will work with your bars.
