Our mission is to provide support for people who are doing everything within their ability to help themselves. Please do not ask us to support you if you're not willing to help yourself. *Hearts* is a positive, comforting, supportive forum.
The forums Main Support chat room is open 24 hrs daily.
We ask that ALL of the list below listed pertain to you:
Dealing With Mental Health Issues
( this includes Depression as well as all the other related conditions)
21 years of age or older
We feel that anyone diagnosed with mental health issues should be seeing a Licensed Therapist or a Mental Health Counselor, however your still welcome here if you plan on getting the professional help you need soon.
RULES for participation in this forum:
Please read these before you come to chat with us. Using this site means you accept its terms.
1. While our message board is open for everyone, we ask that the chat room be reserved for those people with a mental health issue of their own.
2. We ask that when you enter the forum that you treat others with the same courtesy and respect that you would expect. (Typos are totally allowed, as a matter of fact we should require them as they can sure be fun! )
3. We DO NOT allow ( whispers) or private messages to one another in the chat room. ( the room becomes quiet and then due to the nature of this forum people may start to wonder if you are discussing them or do not like them. We wouldn't want that to happen to anyone, ever.)
4. Before discussing self-injury, or specific details of events you have endured in your life please ask the room if that type of conversation is acceptable to them. (Some members may not be far enough along in their recovery to listen or be involved in the conversation and would be forced to leave which is something we discourage.You can discuss anything without going into the *exact details.* People will still able to support and comfort you. We have done just that for many years now without knowing every little detail)
5. We will not tolerate harassment, defamatory, abusive, tasteless nor indecorous statements by anyone; offensive language is not acceptable either.
6. Please do not just "sit" in the chat room, it makes others uncomfortable. (If you simply can't chat & are already a member, then please do speak to the moderator upon entry. Please remember we are here to support each other & we DO want to be able to do that for you.) You will be allowed to return in one hour.
7. Anyone not responding to the staff when spoken to directly will be removed from the chat room. (It frightens & worries the chat room members when you do not respond.) You will be allowed to return.
8. We ask that you NOT use spoilers *** (in place of the letters) in your posts on the message board. We believe that we must learn to deal with the words that upset us and what better place to do that at than on the Internet.
9. FLAMING: Our group has a warm and caring atmosphere, one which we enthusiastically support and care about. Flames (nasty yelling or sarcastic responses).
10. Please be friendly and supportive of all members in the chat room. ( If your not able to do that~ then tonight may not be the best time to join us.)
11. The staff, and management of *Hearts* is in the room to keep everyone *safe*including yourself,so please do not give them a hard time when they are simply doing what they where trained for. Doing so will result in your immediate removal from the Chat room. Thanks for your coperation in this matter in advance! :)
12. After your first visit to *Hearts* Main chat room you must post an introduction of yourself prior to re-entering the chat room. ( If you would rather not share anything so soon you may simply post and say " Hi I'm new here" )
13.You will give this weeks code word when asked by the staff on duty when you enter the chat room, or you will be asked to leave and read the Start page and return to chat after doing with with the correct code word. You will be given one chance to give the correct code word to the staff after being asked to leave and read our Start page. After that you will be locked out until you speak with Sassy. ( This is for everyone's safety so please help us keep *Hearts* a safe place to come and get the support your looking for by cooperating.) This weeks code word is.~ SAFE
NOTE: If you're one to multi-task while in chat.... PLEASE don't forget that there are *real people* chatting with you. They can get hurt feelings if you don't respond back to them quick enough. ( It makes people think that you're not listening or don't care. No one would want that sort of an impression to be what people remember about this forum. )
NOTE: You *may* at any time send a (whisper/ private message) to either the HOST or to the MODERATOR on duty, *Only* if you need to tell them you are not feeling safe. Please remember that they are watching the room and chatting with the members. They cannot do that effectively while engaging in a private chat. Their main goal is to ensure that everyone is safe in the chat room. So please keep your messages to the moderators short and to the point.
Note:
If you feel an immediate need to end your life, we ask that you please call a local SUICIDE HOT LINE. (Please click the line and read if you're considering this at this time.)
They have trained professionals and can help you to make a better choice, as we are not trained to deal with that. This would upset the room and everyone would be devastated if we could not stop you. Remember, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Please check the message board for suicide hotline information.
