Hi All,
We are in the planning stages of the next Reunion Weekend.
The team is very happy with the results of the 2007 reunion, how could we not be? More alumni and teachers showed up than ever before and the vibe in the IDES Hall was simply amazing.
We think the next Reunion Weekend, to be held on July 21, 2012, will be even more amazing. Why? Because we expect so many people to attend that we've rented out both rooms at the IDES Hall; the main hall and the small adjacent hall.
The multi media presentations being planned to showcase the first 50 years of the High School and coastside at large, is a huge undertaking but it should be breath taking in it’s beauty and scope of subject.
Most interesting is that our Reunion Weekend dove-tails with the 50th Anniversary of the High School. It was in 1962 that the High School on Cougar Hill was open for education. We are in the process of locating very interesting photos and stories to present to all of you at the reunion.
As is now expected at these Reunion Weekends, we will be upping the ante once again with more historical material, more teachers in attendance, more door prizes, more coastside related foods, the great band The Rip-Tides will rock the house once again, we’ll have karaoke late in the evening, showcasing 40,000 songs, and a few surprises that will be so memorable that, just like we were asked after the Reunion Weekend in 2007, people will be demanding that we do these reunions every year, as 5 years apart seems to be not enough! Whew!!!
Please tell one and all, that everyone and all are invited to the next Reunion Weekend on July 21, 2012. We focus on the decade of the 1970’s but, and I can’t make this anymore clear; we are inviting any alumni from any decade to join us at this event.
Again, if you attended school on Cougar Hill, if you graduated or not, if you never attended school up on the Cougar Hill but you live (or lived) on and love (or still love) the coastside and you’d like to hang out with fellow Coastsiders and revel in the coastside experience, please consider attending this event. It’s likely that this July 21, 2012 Reunion Weekend will be the last one organized by this team and presented in this fashion.
If you miss this Reunion Weekend, you may never be able to go back in time and meet your family and friends in what has been consider to be the best reunions ever held for the alumni of Cougar Hill. We aren’t getting any younger friends; please do not miss this opportunity. It’s knocking one more time, let’s answer the door and let’s rock the 50th Anniversary of Cougar Hill together! J
Letter to the Editor of the HMB Review, published August 15, 2007:
On behalf of the 1970s reunion planning committee, I would like to say "thank you" to the Review for its excellent coverage of our reunion weekend, held July 20-22 in Half Moon Bay. Your willingness to cover this monumental event, we are certain, helped to increase attendance.
For the nearly 500 alumni who attended, I want to thank you all personally for participating. From the hundreds of testimonials that are flooding our Web site, www.outtahear.com, we know that this event meant so much to so many people. A gathering of those proportions will not soon be forgotten. Growing up on the coast is a unique experience, and for one weekend so many of us were able to gather together and relive those memories. Every attendee was an important thread that makes up the fabric and culture that is Half Moon Bay.
We would also like to thank the many teachers who turned out to support this celebration. The reunion committee is grateful that we could personally thank the educators who helped to shape our futures.
We would like to thank the many vendors who helped our cause. And we would like to thank the entire community. Without your support, this event wouldn't have been the success that it was.
The feedback from the event was so generous and clear that the decision to have another '70s Reunion Weekend seems an easy one.
Mark your calendars: July 21, 2012 when we will meet again.

Former students take a nostalgic trip to '70s
By Stacy Trevenon--[ stacy@hmbreview.com ] If you attended, taught or worked at Half Moon Bay High sometime in the 1970s, put the weekend of July 20 through 22 on your calendar.
That's when you can spend a nostalgic weekend with former classmates, teachers and school administrators from those days, at a reunion in Half Moon Bay.
It's all being planned by former Coastsider and Southern California resident Mark Center. A 30-year Montara resident from 1964 (when he was 5) to 1994, and a 1977 graduate of Half Moon Bay High, Center is doing the legwork to organize this large sentimental journey.
"This is meant to go for the whole decade of the 1970s," he said, adding that it should be "the biggest reunion (Half Moon Bay High) has ever had."
Plans are that the reunion will begin with an "icebreaker" beginning at 7 p.m. at The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company at 390 Capistrano Road in Princeton. Live entertainment will be provided by Half Moon Bay High alumni musicians.
On Saturday the festivities continue with a dinner dance beginning at 4 p.m. at the I.D.E.S. Hall at 735 Main St. in Half Moon Bay. The cost will be $75 per person.
At the dinner, there will be door prizes, some provided by acquaintances in the music business, Center said, and a live Hawaiian band playing music during dinner, to be followed by the Rip Tides for dancing.
The weekend will conclude Sunday with a catered picnic at Martin's Beach, beginning at 11 a.m. Guests can bring their own food. Catered food will be available for $15 to $20.
Setting this reunion apart, Center said, is the scope of people who will be coming. Center said he had been contacted not only by classmates from the 1970s but also people who did not attend Half Moon Bay High but who lived on the Coastside and felt close to the people who did attend.
Those include former teachers, some in their 70s and 80s who, he said, indicated to him that they might not attend other reunions after this one due to health concerns.
Center plans a display on Saturday at the I.D.E.S. Hall of more than 500 photos taken between 1971 and 1980. In one corner of the hall a dedicated space will be set up for a tribute to students and teachers who have passed away.
Center is the owner of Outta Hear Productions, a DVD productions, audio-video transfer and Web design business. Through it, he got involved in local reunion planning when he produced videos and DVDs for previous reunions. "That ballooned into me being the head grand poobah of these reunions," he said ruefully.

1: Welcome to the Half Moon Bay Forum. We used to be in the Classmates.com world but they made some very poor decisions regarding their message board. In response, I decided to open this board up which replicates the original Classmates board in every way.
Better than that, since we run it, if anybody wants another function (if available) we’ll add it. All e-mail addresses and web site URL’s will show up in your message. In short, this is our board, not Classmates. And even better, it’s free, uncut and uncensored. However, let’s keep it clean and fun for all to enjoy.

3: To the visitors of this forum,
The Coastside. What and Where is it? And why should you care.
Nestled on the coast, 20 minutes south of San Francisco, this 30 mile stretch of coastline is revered as the last vestige of coastal country living left in the Bay Area. So close to the ever maddening Peninsula, yet with a feeling so far away. A coastsider can go surfing, ride a horse or mountain bike, go hiking to 2000 feet and then in less than 30 minutes, enjoy world class entertainment at an amazing array of venues. No matter what length your stay on the coast, the impression is made. A lifetime impression, a life's adventure.
