This forum is for the discussion of the beliefs and practices of the controversial International Churches of Christ (a.k.a. Crossroads, Discipling Movement, Boston Movement, Multiplying Ministries). Members, ex-members and never-been members are all welcome to participate here.
The International Churches of Christ is a Bible-based fundamentalist/evangelical discipling church. It is the latest series of churches along with the Churches of Christ, Disciples of Christ and Christian Churches which spring from the "Restoration Movement" of Cambell and Stone. The ICC which has it's roots in the Churches of Christ became a new and separately recognizable movment starting 1979 in Boston and now has about 135,000 members worldwide. It's doctrines are largely consistent with the conservative Churches of Christ from which it sprang...with the addition of more stringent requirements that all it's members be disciples of Jesus and understand this prior to baptism. Practices which have drawn outside attention to the group include one-over-one hierarchical accountability among members, its discipleship prior to baptism, the extent to which its total-commitment ideology influences all areas of members' lives, its rejection of mainstream denominations, and its zealous approach to church growth. This forum is provided for members, ex-members, and other interested parties to discuss these and other issues surrounding the group.
As the forum moderators watch over the forum, there are a few rules and guidelines that are encouraged for all posters:
Non-ICC-Related forum participants generally don't post on this forum. If you (the forum participant) have no affiliation with or have no contribution to the discussions that happen on this forum related to the ICC, this forum may not be for you. We discourage other posters from other religious forums coming on to promote their religious beliefs or their forums without the sole consent of the forum owner. Please refer to the rule below on "Spamming" for more details.
"TOS Violations" are violations of Delphi's Terms of Service are regulations enforced by Delphi for mostly legal and ethical reasons. The violation of a forum rule may or may not relate to a violation of a TOS via Delphi. If a person wants to report such a violation of either set of rules, we ask that the person first report the violation to the forum staff through email or forum post. We ask this so we are able to have a chance to settle the issue before it needs to be sent to Delphi. Reporting a TOS Violation through the tool available will not only notify the forum moderators but, will also notify Delphi. If we can get the issue fixed on the forum grounds, we can avoid posting multiple emails to the Delphi staff, who are busy enough as it is.
Forum Bashing is discouraged here. We try to keep a level of respect toward other forums, particularly those who have a direct relation to the topic of this forum. If a poster has a problem with another forum and wishes to complain or make fun about them on this forum, the discussion will be closed and the posters will be reminded of the froum rule. If, after repeated warnings, the parties still ignore the rule, action will be taken.
Spamming (the posting of advertisements for unrelated products, services or websites) will under no circumstances be tolerated. Spammers will have their posts deleted as soon as they are detected, after which the spammer will be locked out of this forum and reported to the Delphi administrator.
Email Harassment of other posters will be considered grounds for removal from the forum. This includes: Insulting, threatening or indecent messages sent through the forum to other people, attempts by ICC members to censor other members, and continual posting of emails to any person who has asked you to refrain from contacting them.
Trolling (attempting to stir up trouble for your own amusement) will also not be tolerated. While there will be ample leeway for heated debate on any topic, anyone who is obviously trolling will be gagged at the discretion of the forum staff.
Participants' Rights to Privacy are respected on this forum. Any attempt to "out" a person who wishes to remain anonymous will be handled as a form of harassment and will be handled as such. Non-public information, or information that has been specifically requested by said parties to remain off the forum will also fall under the confines of this rule and is considered private. Public information or information not specifically stated by either party as private will not be considered under this rule.
Swearing is not encouraged, but we are well aware that all kinds of words tend to find their way into passionate discussions. An occasional cuss word won't get you thrown out, but posters who continually engage in foul and abusive language will be gagged (again, this is a matter left to the discretion of the staff)
