If you are writing about something I've written or said, here is how to get a fast, effective answer:
1. If your question is about something posted on Silverlight.net, please post your question there. If your question is about programming Silverlight, please post to the Silverlight forum. If your question or comment is about Silverlight but none of that will work for you, please write to me, but that is guaranteed (I'm afraid) to be the slowest route (jliberty@microsoft.com).
2. If your question is about the book Programming Silverlight published by O'Reilly Media, or any other book or Article I've written, please follow these steps.
A - Check the FAQ and Errata (if there is one) on my book site by clicking on this link and then scrolling down to the book
B- If you don't find the answer you need, please find the appropriate folder here and ask your question, but be sure to include:
The book title, edition, printing, the chapter, the page, and where appropriate the exercise, listing or illustration number
If you tried something and it didn't work, please explain what you did, what you expected and what happened.
If you didn't understand something, please provide as much context as possible
Please do not send an attachment - I can't open them (for the same nutty reasons we have to take our sneakers off at the airport)
Feel free to put short code snippets in your entry, but beware of indentation mangling
Tip: Shorter entries tend to get faster responses
Tip: Better subject lines get faster responses: summarize your problem in 5 words and you're a hit!
One other note; at the moment I have almost 2 dozen books in print with about 100,000 readers, I'm writing 2 books and working about 70 hours for Microsoft, so I may be a bit slower than I want to be in responding; but there are a lot of bright folks here who may fill in and help.
Beyond that, if your question is general and not specific to one of my books you may find you'll get a quicker and better answer on one of the news groups or one of the Microsoft support forums.
It is my stated goal and commitment to provide the best support of any author in the industry. If I'm failing, don't hesitate to let me know.
Thanks for your patience and your years of support and for reading my books. I do, truly, appreciate it.
