 Welcome

Welcome to Abbeygirls!

This forum is a meeting place for fans of Elsie J Oxenham’s Abbey books. For the benefit of those who haven’t come across them, they are a series of books written between 1914 and 1959, about a set of girls who live near a ruined Abbey in the Oxfordshire countryside. They are not really school stories, although they are enjoyed by many people who read school stories, and there is a school background to the books.

EJO also wrote many books connected to the Abbey series, and some that were not, and you are welcome to discuss these here too.

To read synopses of the main Abbey books and close connectors, from the excellent Collecting Books and Magazines site, click here; for a brief biography of EJO together with a complete list of her books and a reading order for the Abbey series and close connectors, click here.

This is a public forum, which means that it is open to anyone who wishes to post, but do please try and keep posts more or less on topic in the main folders!

Why not visit the EJO Society's webpage - click here to go there.

Fans of Elinor M Brent-Dyer's Chalet School series may like to visit The Chalet Schol Forum - click on the drop down link at the top of the page.

Please feel free to participate in any of the discussions listed on the left or to post your own new discussion on any subject connected to EJO's works.

This message board will allow you to help keep in touch with contacts, exchange ideas, post files for discussion, and maintain a searchable archive of all conversations.

Note: this board is customized for you, and read messages will not be displayed every time you enter. These messages are still accessible through the find buttons or the links on the left.
