This site is a place for those diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder, their families and friends to come and share experiences, coping tips, and many other aspects of this disorder.
Please feel free to come in and browse around. We only ask that you are a registered member of Delphi (registration is free) and respect the feelings of others using the site. Please bear in mind, too, that we could have youngsters around so, if you're into artwork and sigs, please keep them tasteful. When discussing problems please use an * to replace vowels, etc. in words that may be triggers for some. Posting in all caps is also not suggested.
We have several chat rooms. One for general chat, and one where a moderator can speak privately with someone, and one for overflow. There is only one rule in chat - Be nice. I know that is broad, but consider that there may be kids around, that some may be very sensitive, and it's just plain respectful. So far, there are no scheduled chats, but keep an eye out, it could be open any time. (Evenings around 7 or 8 cst are a good bet!)
There's also a webpage
where we've compiled a lot of resources. The resources range from books, videos, government and financial assistance, and links to more information on Bipolar disorder, (both individual and family support) and other mental health problems. The site will also have some areas where we can share our own expressions with each other. AlaskaLiz was instrumental in compiling the information on these pages and deserves a big round of applause. While you're there, stick a pin in our map so we can see where everyone is.
Now for the small print: As far as we know there are no medical professionals here. Please do not discuss the amount of any medications you are taking. It is fine to talk about the type(s) of meds and how they seem to be affecting you though. Amounts of medications and any special therapies should be kept between you and your medical provider.
Should you have any problem with the board, or want to make any suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact one of the boards Hosts.

 A Healthy Place
I debated whether or not to put the following link here. I came to the conclusion that not to include it would be to add to the denial of a fact of the Bipolar disease. People who are bipolar have a higher incidence of su*c*de. There are many who want to help you avoid a permanent solution to a short term problem. A group that really wants to help is the Suicide Crisis Center Please Note: NAMI has announced that 1-800-SUICIDE may go out of service on August 29, 2006. They are trying to negotiate to keep it open. In any event there will be another phone number 1-800-273-TALK that will maintain the same confidentiality standards as the other number.
