 Welcome

Welcome To Ham Info. This is the start page. Use the grey tabs at the top of the page to move around the Forum. Want to get into the heart of the Forum? Go ahead and start reading messages now (click on recent topics at left), or click the gray "Messages" tab at top. This will get you to a full list of subjects (folders). Click on a folder (subject) to get a full list of files. Click on the desired file to retrieve the message. Click on the attachment icon to retrieve the attached file. Save or print the map or list.

The best copies of maps seem to result when the attached map file is downloaded then printed using Adobe Elements(TM) or Paint(TM). The print quality varies with the programs. The maps up to 4/3/04 have been bitmap files. I will start posting .jpg color map files (in the heading maps folder) that provide higher resolution. This format seems far more popular than the original bit map files.   This format is very time consuming to create so more recently I have been making maps with latitude and longitude lines.  These only require about a day per map to make and seem fairly popular.

The angular coverage of some heading maps is slightly less than 180 degrees to avoid extraneous lines in the plots.  These extraneous lines and some plotted lines near the outer edges are distorted due to the program trying to plot in the tremendously expanded area near the edge of the maps.  The omission of a few degrees in the plot should not be a problem.

There have been relatively few changes to the ARRL DXCC list since the current heading lists were posted so I am postponing any updates to generate new DX heading maps.

To post a message click on the "post new" icon in the subject folder. This will get you the message form. Fill in the blanks. Click on the "attach files" icon at the bottom of this form to attach a file. Want to start a new discussion? Post now! New to forums? Take our tour!

Please no obscenity or porno. No attacks on individuals or organizations. Material in this forum may contain errors. Use at your own risk. Contribute only material you have the rights to. That is material you create or have the copyright owners permission to use.

Start with an introductory message and describe the material. Indicate the format of the material. Is it in ascii, word, or other text format? If an image is it .bmp, jpg, .gif, or other format? If you are willing, say that people can contact you for help. Give your email address so they can ask for material, unless you can post it successfully. Post bigger files as attachments to your message. Working with attachments requires JAVA compatible software. Early versions of Windows(TM) (3.1) may not work.

It is not obvious how much material will be uploaded or how to best organize it. I will create folders initially but suggestions will be welcome. Please put your comments in the comments folder (section).
