Welcome to TexNAMA's Methadone Advocacy Forum
Please participate in any of the discussions listed on the left or post your own new discussion. This message board will help you to contact others who are on methadone or have a loved one who is in treatment. You will find information on methadone treatment, buprenorphine, as well as Hepatitis C which effects over 50% of methadone patients.
TexNAMA would like you to have a good experience and enjoy your time here. This is an open forum and pretty much anything goes, except -- flaming or denigrating someone else, foul language, and personal attacks. If you have a problem with another poster take it into private email, this is not the place for that.
What I do want is to help people, especially those in Texas, to get the best treatment possible. This is best done with knowledge, knowledge is power. We must all learn as much as we can about the rules and regulations concerning MMT.
You need to be able to distinguish between CLINIC POLICY and Federal/State/City Regulations. Call 1-800-SAYNOTO to get the TIPS & TAPS put out by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). These will help you when dealing with your clinic.
There is a huge stigma in MMT and we would like to change that and show people that we are just everyday people, leading everyday lives to the best of our ability. I want people who come here to see that we aren't a bunch of "junkie dope fiends" only interested in getting high.
Also, check out www.methadone.org for information on joining the National Alliance of Methadone Advocates (NAMA) of which TexNAMA is the Texas Chapter. You can also check out how to become a Certified Methadone Advocate (CMA).
Together we can make a difference. Together we are making a difference.
Note: this board is customized for you, and read messages will not be displayed every time you enter. These messages are still accessible through the find buttons or the links on the left.
