The Old Coots on Scoots is a Historic Sanctioned Chapter of the AMA, Sanction #6911. It was founded in 1947 by George Harris Tucker, for the sole purpose of just having fun while riding motorcycles with friends. G. H. Tucker rode with the group until his death in 1951. George's son, Dan Tucker, restarted The Old Coots on Scoots in 1984 in Santa Rosa, California. There are now fifty-two active chapters all over the country, and still growing. All members are Life Time Members, as once you are an Old Coot, you will always be an Old Coot!
Rather than a motorcycle club, it is a group of riders that just enjoy riding and has no desire for any more rules, or regulations, in their life. There is no membership committee, there is no electoral body, and there is no special funding or dues. There is no requirement to attend any meetings or mandatory group rides. The one thing we do have is a complete lack of organization, and a real desire to ride... Nothing will be expected of you except to not break the law while wearing the Old Coots On Scoots patch.
* It does not matter what kind of Bike you ride *
* You will not have to attend any monthly meetings *
* We promote safe group rides *
* We promote Motorcycle and Public Safety Rules *
* Most of our rides are local *
* Ride whenever you want to *
* Members of other groups are invited to ride with us *
* There are no meetings, no officers, and definitely no attitues. *
The threefold purpose of this group, is, (1) To Ride; (2) To go somewhere interesting to eat; (3) To be home in time for a nap.

Ride a bike you can handle at all speeds and that won't crush you if it falls on top of you.
It's not a team sport. There's no safety in numbers, and "keeping up" is a fool's game.
If you can't or won't ride 3,000 miles a year, consider other forms of recreation. You're not likely to get any better.
If, after a season of riding, you're still uncomfortable with the speed of traffic, stick to four wheels. You'll be much less vulnerable to the people you annoy.
Carrying passengers safely demands thousands of miles of experience with many types of traffic and surfaces, as well as the strength and balance to support your machine in difficult footing.
Riding a motorcycle won't make you younger, but diet and exercise will improve your control, concentration and longevity.
Practice your braking religiously. By middle age, the fine touch demanded by powerful disc brakes does not come naturally; you've got to work at the application and the release.
And lastly, the old gym teacher's creed: Always end the game while the kids are having fun.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow.
