The Paperhanging Forum

A forum for talking shop, trading tips, and promoting the business of wallpaper.

Welcome, newcomers, to the Paperhanging Forum. We've been hanging out here for a couple of years now. Poke around the forum. Some names you will recognize, others will be new to you. There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met.

About the ads: Delphi is a for-profit company that hosts this web space and the database that makes this forum possible. You are welcome to use this space for free, but you will have to put up with the occasional ad. The DelphiPlus level of membership is completely ad-free. The Delphi community consists of hundreds of forums with themes that span the interests of the globe. If you have a hobby, someone has probably started a Delphi forum for it. I am a motorcycle rider. I belong to five other Delphi forums having to do with Honda Shadows, riding clubs, vintage bikes, etc. For this reason, I find it a bargain to pay the $49/year Advanced membership fee to Delphi. I was at a friend's house over the weekend, and I checked in on this forum as a Guest on his computer, and I couldn't believe the barrage of ads. There was even a pre start-page ad that I found to be annoyingly deceptive. I think that once you register as a basic member (free), the ads are a little less intrusive. The $49 is paid to Delphi, and there is NO financial benefit to me, as your host, for your paying membership. The $49 a year is probably equal to the value of exposure to the hundreds of ads that you will view as a free member over the course of a year.

About the rules: We are adults here, and we talk like adults who hang paper for a living. If you are inclined to use a salty phrase, or to say shit when crap just won't do, feel free. There is no censorship, but please keep in mind that this is a paperhangers' forum. If you want to talk about national politics and religion, please feel free, but you will find a better audience for it elsewhere. Here is a list of Delphi forum topics: http://www.delphiforums.com/

The format: Every time you log in, your screen will only show messages that you haven't read since the last time you logged in. That's the beauty of this forum; there's no stale content. The only time you will see previous posts is when there has been nothing at all new posted since your last log in. In that case, the screen will show all of the posts of the last few months. This forum uses cookies to make that happen. If you are an anti-cookie freak, or have a serious paranoia with regard to ad-ware, perhaps this forum is not for you. I can attest that in the four years that I have been a Delphi subscriber (three as a paying subscriber, one as a Basic member), I have never been spammed as a result of it. Cookies are the host's way of recognizing you. Ads are how the web makes money. Live with it. The learning curve for this forum is moderate. After a couple of weeks, using this forum will be second nature. There is plenty of support available at http://www.delphiforums.com/dir-faq/index.htm

Email me if you have any questions about how to use this forum, or feel free to post your query on the board. Again, welcome, and I hope you stick around.

Your host,

Cliff Hayes
