This is the place to find out about parrots and other exotic birds: how to care for them, behavioral issues, health, training, breeding, and warnings about dangers and toxins in the home that could harm you pet bird. This forum is run by Vera Appleyard (nickname, ParrotParrot) of ParrotParrot.com. I used to be the Guide for Pet Birds at About.com. CathyMacaw is one of the forum managers who can also help you should you have issues with the forum and I am not around. Also notice there is an "Emergency Folder," which is where you should post questions for which time is of the essence (NOT a substitute for avian vet emergency care).
There are just a few rules you should know about. This is a friendly discussion forum where we share our knowledge and experience. Please keep it friendly. Please note that if you disagree with the rules of this forum, you can start your own forum through DelphiForums and make your own rules.
No personal attacks. If you don't agree, simply state your beliefs rather than attack the other person's beliefs. No vulgarities. Children use this forum. I will edit these words or one of my forum managers will! Personal attacks will be deleted without notice. If you must get into it with someone, do it privately, not in this forum.
No advertising. You can have a simple url to your personal or business site, and even a small personal (not advertising) graphic, but you can't have large banners that sell things. If you have something for sale related to birds, you can mention it in a post, but no aggressive selling. If this allowance is abused, I will have to change the rule.
No fanatics please. This is not the place for personal soap boxes to be set up. If you are over-the-top and hostile about a position and people on the forum are offended, you will be given a warning. Three warnings and you may be banned from the forum. Common sense prevails here. Most people know the difference between a balanced argument and extremism; those who don't will be made aware of the difference. ;-)

SIGNATURES ETC: Please, keep embedded graphics under 300x 300 pixels (or equivalent pixels total per post) and text signatures a reasonable length as a courtesy to members with disabilities and members with slow modems. Text signatures should be no more than a few lines. If your graphic is deleted, it is because it is too large, and you should modify it to fit within these standards. I will delete graphics without notice that do not fit these specifications.
Animated graphics: If your animations are more than a subtle change in the image, please program them to animate 5-7 times then stop. This is easy to do in PaintShopPro's animation shop. If you need help, let me know.
Graphics must be appropriate for children to view.

Personal Profile
You can change your personal profile by clicking on your nickname link. You can also read other peoples' profiles by clicking on their nickname link. Do not put anything in your personal profile that could compromise your safety or that of your birds. Avoid giving specific locations if you own exotic birds because thieves may use this information to their advantage.
Gags/Bans
Only in the case of severe escalations of personal attacks, may this option be used to rein in hostile posters who don't know how to drop an issue, and make the forum unpleasant for people who are here to discuss their birds, not wrangle with personalities. If you are gagged, it will last for 48 hours. Third gag will be a ban. If you are gagged it is due to your behavior and it is a natural consequence of breaking the rules of engagement in this forum. Being right or wrong is not the issue, being a fanner of flames is. In some instances if a post is threatening, vulgar, or very demeaning, the first gag will be a ban.
