Our rules are but few, and applied according to the consensus of the staff:

• Respect for the rights of other participants and the principle of civility is paramount. "Freedom of speech" may mean you can defecate on your own rug -- but not this rug.
• Our focus is on ideas, not personalities; ad-hominem arguments are not welcome here.
• Flame wars between participants will be discouraged and, if necessary, prevented.
• An effort to stay on topic with respect to the thread is always appreciated.
• Those who have established themselves as participants are welcome to promote their forums or other websites. Spam or troll posts, however, will be dealt with swiftly and without discussion.
• Posters who repeatedly start the same thread in a large number of forums will be invited to pick one forum and stick with it. If it's this forum, fine; if not, likewise fine.
• While it is sometimes difficult to say where proselytization begins, those who have this as their primary aim are encouraged to go elsewhere.
• Single-issue posters who reiterate rather than respond should see the rule above. This is a discussion forum, not a billboard.
• Quarrels that begin in other forums will not be suffered to continue here.
• Posters will not be permitted to return under an alternate identity after being gagged or locked out.
