"If you had to chop, rake, stretch, and mold your bike's frame yourself to get that custom style, it might end up looking okay, but it would probably handle like an intoxicated pig on a frozen pond. That's where the Honda Shadow VLX stands apart from the rest."
Description: A forum for both owners and admirers of the Honda Shadow VLX (otherwise reknown as the VLX, VT-600...unless in Southeast Asia where they call them "Steed").
Stop in and throw a leg over, start up the motor, and find out what the VLX is all about. Welcome to the largest VLX ride on the web!
{Founded on 5/25/01 by the Shadow Shack}
Step inside and see what's lurking in our Shadows...
If you can't resolve your VLX issuess with the material and members here, then it's not really a problem...it's like that from the factory and you'll just have to get used to it.

<<< FORUM RULES >>>
1> Have the most possible fun with your VLX-perience!
2> If you're not having the most possible fun with your VLX-perience, then it's time to take your VLX in for service, or request some self-service assistance here at the VLX Forum (which, by the way, we'll be more than happy to provide).
Barring that, refer to rule #1...
To that end, here are the basic guidelines that will serve to reinforce those two simple rules:
1> Advertisers If you have something nifty to offer the Honda Shadow VLX community, we're definitely interested in seeing what you have in stock for us. Please post these items in the "Custom Accessory Suppliers" folder. If at the very least you can't offer anything dubbed "universal" and otherwise have absolutely nothing that we can benefit from (such as Kawasaki Ninja only products posted on a Honda cruiser forum), don't take offense to any remarks made...If you are simply here to shovel spam down our throats, while it's a generous offer we just don't care for the taste and such posts will eventually be removed.
2> Private Party Sales Many items are bought and sold in the "VRCCC Classifieds" folder by various members. It is wise to conduct all such business transactions via e-mail (such as giving out credit card info, mailing addresses, etc). If you are having issues with the buyer or seller please take them up privately via email. You can email any member here by accessing their profile (left-click on their forum name and you will see a new window open with an e-mail option near the top). If the e-mail bounces back (indication of an invalid email address) please post to the person on the forum asking for their new email. This is why it's wise to conduct business over e-mail, you can establish if the person is a legitimate member (you can also see their sign up date and how active they are on the forum in the profile too) by finding out beforehand that they have a valid e-mail address before sending away your hard earned cash. Once the transaction has been made and one party can't cough up their end of the bargain, and you can't get a hold of them via e-mail or acquire a new e-mail address from posting such requests on the forum, please contact a forum host. We'd like to think only extreme emergencies would get in the way of such transactions, but unfortunately there can be bad apples in every bunch. That said, please view the sh_t list following for names of those that have screwed members in the past.
3> Political/Religious/Current Events Debates While the Bill of Rights is endorsed here, there are probably better forums to discuss such topics. If you feel the need to do so here, please have the courtesy to post such topics in the "Off the Saddle (other topics)" folder. The primary focus here is the Honda Shadow VLX and the camaraderie that goes along with it, and while we have no qualms engaging in such discussions we also don't want them to become a primary focus of our fine forum. So while one or two threads containing such topics is okay, plugging and posting in every discussion isn't. Debates are one thing, disruptive behavior is another. But if you really want to persist in such constant issues despite this hospitable request, we'll be more than happy to arrange a special chat session in one of our four chat rooms. Failing that, other actions can and will be taken all in the name of the VRCCC, as this forum is, was, and always will be about the VLX. One more thing to remember, if you see a discussion title in the Off Topic folder that might offend you, we're not the ones making you open it so you can read it. You choose to click on it, so if a certain topic offends you then don't read it. In other words, if porn offends you we're not the ones that are making you walk into the adult book store...that's your choice and you'll just have to deal with what you see if you opt to go inside and look (on the porn note, see #5 below).
4> Brand Bashing This is behavior that is generally frowned upon in the overall motorcycle community, granted there are those that persist in the endless debate as to which one is best. You do have the right to express your opinions and likes/dislikes about other brands and models. Just remember to try to keep it toned down (aka chill out on the name calling) as we have many visitors and members that are regulars in other brand/model specific forums that come here too, many that may have started out here with a VLX or are looking for one to compliment their garage as well. A joke is a joke, but an agenda is something entirely different. When the paramedics arrive at the scene of a motorcycle accident they don't care what logo is on the tank, we're all equal in the wind.
5> Pornography, Lewd Comments, and Innuendoes Please note also that you weren't required to issue any special auxilliary passwords, granted any special membership privileges, or supply us with any credit card info to gain access to this forum. In other words, this is a public forum and not a private one. Public forums here at Delphi are viewable by any member age 13 or older, so that's pretty much self explanatory on the content. If you want to view or post such photos take your eyes and credit cards elsewhere.
6> Assumed Liabilities This is a forum for information and advice regarding the Honda Shadow VLX. Neither Delphi nor the VRCCC (VLX Riders: Cruzin' Carvin' & Conversin') Team Members or various participating VRCCC Members assume responsibility for any problems or accidents you may encounter along the way. You choose to ride, you choose what mods to make on your bike, and we will make every possible recommendation we can think of as to how to handle such mods and forewarn of any shortcomings that we may have experienced with them. Do the research and make an educated decision. All messages express the views of the author, and the owners, moderators, and members of VRCCC will NOT be held responsible for the content of any message. In other words, you take the responsibility into your own hands. Of course if you happen to win any trophies at any of the bike shows as a result of such help, we'll happily accept any credit...
7> Advice To repeat what was said in #6, advice is just that: advice. It's your choice to take it or refuse it. If you have disagreements with such advice you have the right to say so, but we ask that you do not try to publicly humiliate or put down those that gave the advice. An open debate on the issue is always an interesting read, but please keep it civil. The aforementioned e-mail option is also a very handy tool for such negative discussions (and the recipient always reserves the right to not respond or even block your email address at his/her end), but just remember...it was YOU that asked for the advice, and chances are it wasn't the disagreeing party of said advice that responded with better or alternative advice. In other words, you can disagree and even raise a counter-point or two, but don't just disagree and call the person an idiot...that's just bad vibes nobody needs. And with that we'll close with:
8> Respect, Courtesy, and Civility If you don't know what these words mean, we'll define them right now:
RESPECT: 1> an act of giving particular attention, consideration 2> high or special regard 3> a relation or concern with something specified
COURTESY: behavior marked by polished manners or respect for and consideration of others
CIVILITY: state of adequate courtesy and politeness, a polite act or expression
Anyone found in violation of these basic premises will be discreetly notified by email. Second offenses will recieve public responses. And just like baseball, strike three means you're out.
This is a special group of folks who have a common interest and share a great deal on the site and in person through rides, get-togethers, etc, so please do your part to keep the atmosphere peaceful. There's a time for seriousness and a time for fun and games, and every now and then it's easy to mix the two together. We'll do our best to answer any and all questions raised, and if you might even get a good guffaw out of it as well. Just remember, respect is a two way street. Follow that simple guideline and we'll all get along just fine.
Sincerely, the VLX Riders Forum Management Team
