So, What's This Forum About, Anyway? In a word, books. To expand on that, this is a site and a forum for people who like to read. The forum is a companion site to Young Adult (& Kids) Books Central where visitors can comment, ask questions or just hang out.
What Kinda Posts Will I Find Here? Mostly stuff about books and authors or homework help, but we also have an "Off Topic" folder where you can post about just about anything. I draw the line at blatant advertising that has no relation to YA or kid's books. We're also addicted to those funny internet quizzes, so just about anything goes!
Earn books just for posting! You can earn a book just for posting in the forum. Take a look at the Forum Giveaway Rules effective November 2007. Take a look at the Prize Bucket to see your current choices. Then, check the blog for shipping notifications (due to the volume of prize claims, I am unable to send out individual notifications any more).
What's YABC? Young Adult (& Kids!) Books Central is one of the leading websites dealing with adolescent and childrens literature. f you check out the site, you'll find YA book reviews, Kids book reviews, (you can also submit your own), author interviews, author bios, press releases & industry news, guides (reader, study and teacher) and much, much more. But, of course, by the far the most popular parts of the site are the monthly contests and ongoing book giveaways. |
Be sure to enter this month's contest(s) on the site!
New this year: the YABC Book Swap -- have a book you don't want that you'd like to exchange for another? Post it here and swap with a member.
Interested in joining or participating in the Writing Workshop? Here's the deal: there are two different WW folders. The public folder is for general writing questions, writing prompts, writing challenges, etc. The private folder (WW: Critique Requests) is for members only (it's easy to join! Just ask Kim or LadyD!) in order to protect your work. Once you have access to the folder, you can post poetry, short stories, or whatever you like and request a critique from other members.
New here? Please introduce yourself in the "Meet the Readers" folder! We'd love to hear all about you and what you like to read!
The Reading Club is a casual affair; each month a book is selected for discussion and questions are posted. Jump in with any suggestions or questions at any time!
Need Help? If you ever have any questions -- about the forum, the site, your homework...whatever, don't hesitate to ask!
Donate to the YABC DropCash campaign and help keep the site going strong! This year, I'm trying to cover all of the hosting costs so I can keep the site going.
The Newsletter: Be sure to join the newsletter for a monthly dose of YABC news & features. Newsletter subscribers also get an extra chance at whatever contest is going on (hint, hint: you want this!).
