Senate Judiciary Committee advances bipartisan antitrust bill aimed at Google, Facebook

The bill would make it more difficult for antitrust suits to be moved to courts that are more sympathetic to the defendants

A bill that would allow state attorneys general to select which courts hear their antitrust cases advanced Thursday out of the Senate Judiciary Committee with broad bipartisan support.

The State Antitrust Enforcement Venue Act is sponsored by Sens. Amy Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat, and Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, the committee's top antitrust legislators, both of whom are themselves attorneys.

The politicians believe the bill will prevent state antitrust cases from being moved to courts that are favored by defendants and combined with private lawsuits.

The bill is one of a several being taken up by Congress this year pertaining to antitrust regulations surrounding Big Tech.

"This bill would simply strengthen enforcement of our antitrust laws," Klobuchar said.

State attorneys general widely support the bill, as well as some of the other congressional efforts to update antitrust legislation.

In addition to pending suits again Google, state AGs are pursuing an antitrust case against Facebook, which was initially dismissed by a federal judge, but is being appealed.

But, some committee members have concerns about the retroactive application of the law to already pending cases.

Lee and Klobuchar stood by the retroactive application of the law, saying that from a legalistic standpoint, it changes only procedural rules not substantive legal standards.

Removing the retroactive portion of the law would "only help Google, which wants to do everything it possibly ca to slow down the prosecution and keep the case as far away from Texas as possible," said Lee.

He also said: "If Texas wants to sue Google in Texas to protect Texans, it should be able to do so. The same goes for Utah, or California, or any other state."

Google and Facebook have been aggressive in their contestation of allegations of anti-competitive behavior and practices.

Things just continue getting worse and worse for Australian citizens under the rule of their tyrannical health regime.

Scenes coming out of the country have been absolutely shocking. In response to the massive protests that have been going on for weeks, the radical-left Australian government has turned to brutal violence against its unarmed citizens in an effort to stamp out the unrest. Gangs of police rove the streets, beating people who dare to disobey before hauling them away.

Authorities have even started ambushing unsuspecting protesters and opening fire with non-lethal bullets at their backs as they flee.

Despite the violent crackdown, the massive protests have persisted for weeks and more people keep showing up. The crowds are so large that the Australian authorities are pressuring the government to issue no-fly zones over the areas with the most people in order to blackout the media.

Now in an attempt to get fewer people to go to protests, Australian authorities are showing up at people’s homes and intimidating them because they’ve made unapproved posts on social media. Recently, two government officials were caught on video when they showed up at an unsuspecting woman’s home and attempted to bully her into not leaving her house.

After the two covid-Gestapo gave the woman a hard time for (rightfully) keeping a camera on them, they explained to her that they had “instructions” to come speak with her specifically because she had been “posting things on social media” about an upcoming protest on Tuesday.

When the woman recording the video pushes back on them, the pair of goons even admits that protesting is a constitutional right for Australians, but they don’t care at all – they are following orders…

…and you better too – Stay inside, or else.

Here is what you NEED to know about "Climate Change." The original debate was about manmade global warming. The left would always lose that subject to the conservatives because it was easily proven that the left's facts and figures were deceitful, and we have very many proofs for this in our forum. Then one day the left got smart, totally deceitful, but smart. They removed the word, "manmade," and replaced global warming with climate change. Well, no intelligent person can honestly deny climate change. The climate is always changing, but not because of US. We cause SMOG, not climate change, and it is legitimate for us to deal with smog.

Google to Ban Ads Containing 'Climate Change Denial'

Google has announced that they will be banning ads containing “climate change denial” ahead of next month’s United Nations conference focusing on “climate action.”

Specifically, Google said that their new policy “prohibit ads for, and monetization of, content that contradicts well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change.”

Google claimed in their announcement that the changes are due to advertisers not wanting their ads promoted near “inaccurate claims about climate change.” The Associated Press said that complaints also came from YouTubers who didn’t want the content playing during their videos.

“In recent years, we’ve heard directly from a growing number of our advertising and publisher partners who have expressed concerns about ads that run alongside or promote inaccurate claims about climate change,” the Google Ads team’s statement said. “And publishers and creators don’t want ads promoting these claims to appear on their pages or videos.”

The statement continued, “this includes content referring to climate change as a hoax or a scam, claims denying that long-term trends show the global climate is warming, and claims denying that greenhouse gas emissions or human activity contribute to climate change.”

The Associated Press reports that “along with addressing publishers’ frustrations, the changes are also apparently intended to counter online influencers who monetize, or make money from, YouTube videos promoting climate change denial theories by putting ads on them.”

Turley On Free Speech Immunity: YouTube Bans Channels Airing Criticism of Vaccines

YouTube continued the expansion of corporate censorship on the Internet with the encouragement of leading Democratic leaders. The company has banned channels associated with anti-vaccine activists like Joseph Mercola and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Once again, rather that rebutting or refuting claims made by others, many sought to silence those with opposing views. YouTube will not allow people to hear views that do not comport with an approved range of opinions.

The move magnifies concerns that we are seeing the emergence of a new type of state media as private companies conduct censorship operations barred by the Constitution for the government to conduct directly. This move comes days after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) asked Amazon to steer customers to "true" books on subjects like climate change to avoid their exposure to “disinformation.” It also follows YouTube censoring videos of jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny before Russia’s parliamentary elections. The move helped Putin and his authoritarian government crack down on pro-Democracy forces.

The Google-owned site is now openly engaged in viewpoint regulation to force users to view only those sources that are consistent with the corporate agenda. Facebook banned misinformation on all vaccines seven months ago and Twitter regularly bans those questioning vaccines.

These companies are being encouraged by many on the left to expand censorship.

Faculty and editors are now actively supporting modern versions of book-burning with blacklists and bans for those with opposing political views. Columbia Journalism School Dean Steve Coll has denounce the "weaponization" of free speech, which appears to be the use of free speech by those on the right. So the dean of one of the premier journalism schools now supports censorship.

BOOM: Trump Launches Lawsuit Against Facebook, Instagram

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump issued a lawsuit against Facebook, suing them to reinstate his social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

This preliminary injunction against Facebook seems appropriate to file this week since they’ve been big in the news lately for all the issues they’re facing,” President Trump’s attorney John Coale said to the Examiner.

“Zuckerberg and Facebook say it’s the 21st-century public town square; if so, they should uphold the First Amendment,” Coale added, referring to statements made by the Facebook CEO about his platform in 2019. “You can’t have it both ways. They’re like a public utility when it comes to speech.”

In the preliminary injunction, Trump’s legal team argued that by “cutting him off from the most effective and direct forms of communication with potential voters,” Facebook is “threatening irreparable damage to the Republican Party’s prospects in the 2022 and 2024 elections.”

It also says that Trump faces irreparable harm and significant losses due to being cut off from his donors and merchandising platforms as well as his ability to communicate his views and endorse local candidates.

Back in July, Trump issued a class action lawsuit against all of the Big Tech giants including their CEOs after they all banned him after the January 6th riot.

“We’re demanding an end to the shadow banning, a stop to the silencing, and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing, and canceling that you know so well. Our case will prove this censorship is unlawful, it’s unconstitutional, and it’s completely un-American,” Trump said at the time during the press conference. “It will be a pivotal battle in the defense of the First Amendment. And in the end, I am confident that we will achieve a historic victory for American freedom, and at the same time freedom of speech.”

It’s Episode Seven of MRC’s new video series, CensorTrack with TR. This week we talked about the Free Speech America study which reported that Big Tech censors GOP congressmen by 54 to 1 more than Democrats.

Big Tech censorship is omnipresent in the world and political sphere at large. There has been an uproar over online censorship against conservatives. The main targets have included individuals who aim to make an impact in the conservative movement through their own organization or political platform.

The American Principles Project is a conservative group that focuses on the importance of family and protecting parents and children from the attacks of wokeism and progressivism in the 21st century. With no warning or notice, YouTube shut down its eight year old account. The account has since been restored but the initial decision still holds impact.

Congresspeople have also been censored which limits their ability to reach new voters and gain support for their political platform. President Donald Trump was censored 625 times from May 2018 to January 2021 while Joe Biden was censored zero times. Twitter deleted content from Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) both senators had their YouTube accounts suspended.

Instagram Silences Biologist for Posting Evidence That Trans "Women" are Stronger Than Women

From the people who constantly tell you to “follow the science” comes another piece of evidence that they aren’t concerned with any kind of scientific thought. This one comes from the folks at Facebook-owned Instagram who have now decided that censoring an actual biologist posting factual findings is acceptable.

His sin? He posted a fact about strength differences between the sexes.

Colin Wright is an evolutionary biologist and managing editor of Quillette. On his Instagram, he posted the results of a study showing the strength advantages of men over women in various activities.

The study, in particular, has to do with measuring the strength of transgender “women” over actual women. Titled "Transgender Women in the Female Category of Sport: Perspectives on Testosterone Suppression and Performance Advantage", the research found that even with hormonal suppressants, men who identify as women see their strength “only minimally reduced when testosterone is suppressed” even after three years.

This study was published before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

This study was published in the Sports Medicine journal where it was recommended that sports facilitators consider these strength advantages before allowing these “women” to compete.

Wright pointed out that a similar test was carried out in the U.K., and they found the same results. This study was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

Wright pointed out that the first author listed in this study is a transgender individual.

This is what Facebook/Instagram is now considering “hate speech.” As Wright pointed out in his tweet showing his post’s removal, the chart he posted goes against the social media giant’s guidelines on “hate speech or symbols.”

How merely pointing out the results of a scientific study that shows strength differences between men and women is hateful was not elaborated on by Facebook/Instagram and Wright said that the company did not allow him to appeal the removal of his post.
