Universal Studios ‘Evaluating’ Their Dr. Seuss-Themed Attractions

Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced this week that they are discontinuing six of the author’s books that crazy liberal activists have been complaining about — now Universal Studios in Orlando is “evaluating” experiences in their Seuss Landing portion of the park.

The publisher who manages the late author’s books announced on his birthday that they would be cancelling the books, including If I Ran the Zoo and And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street — both of which are referenced at Seuss Landing on Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

“A play area in that part of the park is themed after ‘If I Ran the Zoo,’ one of the books that will no longer be published, and includes animals and interactive contraptions from Seuss’s stories. The book has been criticized for its portrayal of Asian people although none of that imagery is featured in the play area,” My News 13 reports. “Seuss Landing also features a gift shop called Mulberry Street Store, which gets its name from ‘And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,’ another book that will be discontinued. There’s also a Mulberry Street sign along the walkway.”

How will the unhinged leftists ever survive?

Chuck Schumer Used ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ to Sell Obamacare

President Joe Biden joined the “cancel culture” this week by dropping Dr. Seuss from “Read Across America Day” after left-wing critics complained about the author’s early caricatures and race-neutral beliefs. But Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who leads the Democratic Party in the Senate, is among the many members of his party who have used Dr. Seuss to make political points. In 2013, for example, Schumer used Dr. Seuss to argue for the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.

Schumer cited the popular Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham, which Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) had read aloud on the Senate floor as he attempted to block the implementation of Obamacare. Schumer argued that like the central character in Green Eggs and Ham, who resisted the dish until he actually tried it, Americans would enjoy Obamacare once they were forced to enroll in it.

Other Democrats have used Dr. Seuss to illustrate political points, drawing on the author’s conventionally liberal beliefs.

In 2014, for example, when Democrats took a page from Cruz’s book and held an all-night talkathon to urge action on climate change, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) read from Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, a popular book with environmental themes:

"It’s this kind of balkanization that is killing America, pushing people to start making judgments based on race or identity politics..."

Major grocery store goes WOKE, now labeling products as ‘black-owned’, ‘hispanic-owned’, LGBT-owned, etc…

A major grocery store chain is now getting into the business of identity and racial politics by labeling minority owned products on the shelf for buyers to see. Here’s a photo of what it looks like via @stillgray:

Giant Foods (also known as Martin’s Food Markets), which operates in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, is the store that announced in December they’d be rolling these labels out this year:

SUPERMARKET NEWS – Giant Food is rolling out updated shelf labels that enable shoppers to identify products from minority-owned businesses.

Plans call for all Giant supermarkets to post the new shelf labels starting in January, the Landover, Md.-based regional grocer said yesterday. The labels will inform customers about items from companies that are women-, Black-, Asian-Indian-, Hispanic-, LGBT-, Asian-Pacific- or veteran-owned.

More than 3,100 food and nonfood products will feature the updated shelf labels across Giant’s 164 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. The retailer said the items come from 281 minority-owned businesses in its network of vendor partners.

Giant, part of Ahold Delhaize USA, said the new shelf-label program is part of its supplier diversity efforts, which focus on developing strong relationships with businesses offering quality products, top-notch customer service and competitive prices.

“Giant Food is proud to better highlight our diverse suppliers,” Giant President Ira Kress said in a statement. “We’re committed to making it easier for customers to identify product attributes that are important to them by fostering a diverse and inclusive network of suppliers that reflects the unique backgrounds and experiences of our Giant family, our customers and our communities.”

It’s this kind of balkanization that is killing America, pushing people to start making judgments based on race or identity politics instead of pushing people to look our society as simply American. Because American is who we all are and we should be proud of this.

eBay purges Dr. Seuss books while still allowing Nazi manifestos, pro-slavery books

Hitler's "Mein Kampf" can still be purchased, but "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" is being wiped.

Ebay this week is working to purge from its servers the listing of six disputed Dr. Seuss books, even as it continues to allow the listing and sale of works such as Hitler's antisemitic Nazi manifesto "Mein Kampf."

Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced this week that it would cease production of half a dozen Seuss books it claimed contain "hurtful" and "wrong" portrayals, including pictures of Asian men and at least one use of the word "Eskimo."

Ebay shortly thereafter announced that it would be scrubbing listings of those books from its online marketplace. Copies of the discontinued children's stories were being listed and sold for significantly inflated prices following the books' cancellations.

The Internet bidding behemoth said this week that it is "currently sweeping [its] marketplace to remove these items," with a spokeswoman reportedly admitting that the total purge of the titles will "take some time."

Yet, even as eBay works hard to remove those books from its servers, multiple books with far more controversial content remain readily available for purchase on the site.

Among those are Adolf Hitler's infamous "Mein Kampf," a vitriolic autobiography written by the genocidal dictator several years before his rise to power. In that work, Hitler laid out his grievances against what he said was a global Jewish conspiracy and called for "international poisoners" to be "exterminated," a foreshadowing of Hitler's eventual attempt to exterminate the Jewish people in Europe.

Also readily available on the site is the book "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," an antisemitic conspiracy theory book that purported to reveal a Jewish plot for world domination. That book was cited favorably by Hitler in "Mein Kampf" and has been promoted by notable anti-semites such as Henry Ford.

Likewise available for purchase are copies of "The Planter's Northern Bride," a U.S. pro-slavery novel written in 1854, as well as "Race Crossing in Jamaica," a book of racist pseudoscience by the eugenicist doctor Charles Davenport.

Ebay did not return requests for comment on why it is purging the Seuss books while still allowing shoppers to purchase works in support of racism and genocide.

The ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom has tracked the 100 most frequently challenged books every decade since 1990, with books on the lists including "Sex" by Madonna, the Harry Potter series, the pro-gay marriage "Heather Has Two Mommies," and "Beloved" by Toni Morrison.

No Dr. Seuss books appear on the lists of most-challenged books from 1990-2009.

"By banning children and not adults from watching these innocent cartoons, Disney must believe that they are doing their part to prevent children from becoming racist. Why else would they make this ridiculous change?"

Disney bans children from watching DUMBO, Peter Pan on streaming service

Hollywood is losing its collective mind over cartoons from the past and Disney+ is leading the way by banning Dumbo, Peter Pan, and another older cartoon from children’s profiles because they are racist or something:

DC EXAMINER - Disney+ removed several movies, including Dumbo and Peter Pan, from children’s profiles over stereotypes deemed offensive. The move comes after Disney placed warnings on certain children’s movies for “negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people and cultures.”

Children under the age of 7 will now no longer be able to watch the movies, including Swiss Family Robinson and The Aristocats. Adults with Disney+ accounts will still be able to watch the movies.

Disney explained why the movies were pulled, saying in the case of Dumbo: “The crows and musical number pay homage to racist minstrel shows, where white performers with blackened faces and tattered clothing imitated and ridiculed enslaved Africans on Southern plantations. The leader of the group in Dumbo is Jim Crow, which shares the name of laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States.”

Peter Pan was pulled because “the film portrays Native people in a stereotypical manner that reflects neither the diversity of Native peoples nor their authentic cultural traditions. It shows them speaking in an unintelligible language and repeatedly refers to them as ‘redskins,’ an offensive term. Peter and the Lost Boys engage in dancing, wearing headdresses and other exaggerated tropes.”

The Aristocats will no longer be available to children because “the (Siamese) cat (Shun Gon) is depicted as a racist caricature of East Asian peoples with exaggerated stereotypical traits such as slanted eyes and buck teeth.”

Disney has clearly bought into the idea that watching these shows will make kids racist, which is something akin to what educators are teaching in states like Arizona. In the Grand Canyon state liberals are now teaching that white babies will grow up racist by default unless parents teach them not to be racist.

By banning children and not adults from watching these innocent cartoons, Disney must believe that they are doing their part to prevent children from becoming racist. Why else would they make this ridiculous change?

"What they found was that 82 percent of the 1,000 comments flagged by the AI classifiers were incorrectly pulled because of commonly associated chess vocabulary."

YouTube Chess Star Punished for 'Harmful and Dangerous' Content After Talking About White and Black Game Pieces

It sounds like a humorous made-up cautionary tale about the hypersensitivity surrounding race relations today — except that it’s completely true.

According to the Independent, chess champion Antonio Radic believes his chess channel was temporarily barred from YouTube because of a “glitch” in the algorithm that picked up the “black against white” chess terminology and flagged it as racist content.

Radic, a Croatian chess player who is known as Agadmator to his more than 1 million channel subscribers, was suspended June 28 for supposed “harmful and dangerous” content during a premiere viewing of an interview with grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura.

In a video recounting the shutdown of his channel, Radic explained that his electronic request for appeal after his suspension was almost instantaneously denied, leading him to believe “it was done by an algorithm that maybe heard some keywords that are not appropriate for the current situation in the world and decided to take down the video.”

He theorized that it might have been because of his explanation that “white will always be better” when discussing specific technical moves, and said that of his over 1800 uploads, “it’s pretty much black against white to the death in every video.”

He and his colleague Rupak Sarkar ran a simulation of their own using a similar speech classifier apparatus to test whether AI would be able to tell the difference between actual racist content and chess terms among 680,000 comments from five other YouTube chess channels.

What they found was that 82 percent of the 1,000 comments flagged by the AI classifiers were incorrectly pulled because of commonly associated chess vocabulary.

Their findings were published in a paper presented to the Association for the Advancement of AI annual conference last month where the pair was awarded Best Student Abstract Three-Minute Presentation.

"As a former Senator, Biden understands that if Republicans are pushed to the sidelines and not allowed to offer amendments or engage in extended debate, they will find other ways to fight the party in power."

Democrats Extending Cancel Culture to Congressional Republicans

Congressional Democrats are extending cancel culture to the House and Senate.

They are trying to sideline Republicans from any participation in the legislative process as a means to silence them. Don’t be fooled by the rhetoric, because the attack on the Senate’s filibuster and House’s motion to recommit is nothing more than a power grab and a way to squelch dissent.

While Woke Disney cancels Peter Pan, Dumbo, The Swiss Family Robinson and The Aristocrats, Woke Democrats in the House and Senate seek to cancel outspoken Republicans like Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX). The private sector woke warriors have pushed for the burning of Dr. Seuss books, while Drs. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Michael Burgess (R-TX) are being marginalized by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). The progressive puppet masters of the Democratic Party are setting themselves up for a painful 2023 when Republicans regain majorities in the House and Senate if they continue to marginalize Republicans.

There is no doubt that Washington Republicans and Democrats are in a political war and have been for years, yet Democrat majorities in the House and Senate should not lead to Republicans participating in the legislative process being cancelled. That is not the way our Founders anticipated the legislative branch of the federal government to work.

President Joe Biden is wise to resist calls to destroy the nature of the Senate by abolishing the filibuster. As a former Senator, Biden understands that if Republicans are pushed to the sidelines and not allowed to offer amendments or engage in extended debate, they will find other ways to fight the party in power. With no opportunity to participate in the legislative process, expect war to bleed over into a public relations battle with Republicans verbally sniping at Democrats during press conferences and on conservative media platforms.

Progressives want Democrats to stamp out dissent by Republicans and even pockets of resistance in the Democratic Party like Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). Those two members like being Senators and are not willing to sip the Socialism-lite Kool Aid that will end up devastating the Democratic Party. Progressives want to abolish the filibuster so they can bully moderate Democrats into going along with elements of the Green New Deal that will end up marginalizing Democrats with moderates.

In the House, conservatives are throwing roadblocks into the Democrats' administration of the House to leverage amendments and a more significant opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Politico reports, “a frustrated slice of the GOP conference is attempting to hamstring the House by refusing to allow quick passage of non-controversial bills — instead forcing every member to cast their vote on the floor and sometimes adding extra procedural votes. The rebellious Republicans say they're responding to broad anger with how Democrats are running the House, from the lack of GOP amendment opportunities to the razor-wire fences erected around the Capitol.” This is a natural outcome of Democrats removing the motion to recommit vote that Republicans traditionally have offered on bills as a way to get one amendment vote on legislation.

“This entire experience has made it even more clear to me that Twitter is only interested in censoring conservatives,”

Newt Gingrich Locked Out Of Twitter For Criticizing Biden's Immigration Policy

Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Newt Gingrich was locked out of his Twitter account for over a week after he published a tweet that criticized the Biden administration’s approach to the southern border and raised concern over immigrants crossing the border illegally who may be infected with COVID-19.

“If there is a covid surge in Texas the fault will not be Governor [Greg] Abbott’s common sense reforms. The greatest threat of a covid surge comes from Biden’s untested illegal immigrants pouring across the border. We have no way of knowing how many of them are bringing covid with them,” Gingrich tweeted on March 3.

Twitter promptly sent Gingrich a message explaining that his account was locked for “violating rules against hateful conduct.”

In an opinion piece published in The Washington Times, Gingrich defended his tweet saying that he was reacting to a recent story that said federal officials had no way of testing people who are picked up by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol — or forcing them to quarantine.

In order to unlock his account, Gingrich was required to delete his tweet or go through an appeals process. Gingrich assumed he received this message by accident.

“Thinking this must have been an error somehow generated by the company’s algorithm, we sent Twitter a message pointing out that my tweet didn’t “promote violence against, threaten, or harass” anyone. We asked that my account be released,” Gingrich said.

Twitter reiterated to Gingrich that his tweet had broken their rules of conduct.

“I fail to see how drawing attention to the public health dangers of massive illegal immigration during a pandemic can be censored. So, to unlock my account, I deleted the tweet this morning,” Gingrich wrote.

“There was no reason to censor my tweet or lock my account,” Gingrich continued. “Nothing in the flagged tweet “promotes violence against, threatens, or harasses” anyone. It is simply pointing out the fact that those entering the country illegally are not tested for COVID-19 and could be a health risk.”

In an open letter to Twitter officials, Gingrich posed the following questions:

Do the Twitter censors acknowledge that we are in a pandemic?

Do the Twitter censors acknowledge that testing is a key tool in fighting the pandemic?

Do the Twitter censors acknowledge that, unlike people entering the country legally, people who come into the United States illegally are not tested for COVID-19?

Do the Twitter censors acknowledge that, unlike U.S. citizens, people who come into the country illegally are unlikely to voluntarily get tested because they are trying to keep a low profile?

If so, how exactly do they justify censoring discussion of the threat to public health posed by people coming into the U.S. illegally without being tested?

Gingrich noted that the vast majority of those being silenced online are conservatives.

“This entire experience has made it even more clear to me that Twitter is only interested in censoring conservatives,” Gingrich said.
