Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis on transparency, technology act

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) told sources on Sunday that Facebook is censoring what the government, under Joe Biden, wants to be suppressed. DeSantis said they are strong monopolies that control a large percentage of political speech, but he said even greater damage has come from Big Tech companies censoring questions on the origins of COVID-19 and pandemic lockdowns.

The Sunshine State’s governor recently signed a bill called the Transparency and Technology Act that gives Floridians treated unfairly by Big Tech, the right to sue them. The bill also prohibits Big Tech from de-platforming Floridian political candidates.

The Florida Election Commission has said it will impose fines of $250,000 per day on any social media company that de-platforms a candidate for statewide office. Floridians have the right to block anyone, including any candidate they don’t want on their feed, but ultimately that is their decision and does not fall at the hands of Big Tech companies to decide.

“Many in our state have experienced censorship and other tyrannical behavior firsthand in Cuba and Venezuela. If Big Tech censors enforce rules inconsistently, to discriminate in favor of the dominant Silicon Valley ideology, they will now be held accountable,” said DeSantis of the new bill.

Amazon dumps Frontline Doctors site for 'misinformation about vaccines'

'Jeff Bezos and Amazon cannot argue with our scientific data and facts'

Amazon's internet hosting service took down the website of the group of doctors known for promoting proven treatments for COVID-19 such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.

America's Frontline Doctors was accused of "hosting misinformation about vaccines and was reported as objectionable content to AWS."

The doctors' website has since been restored through another host.

The doctors said Amazon gave them four days notice to remove the website from Amazon's server or it would be deleted. AFLDS said its team "frantically worked around the clock to rebuild our website from scratch while utilizing servers around the world at great expense."

"We were forced to take immediate action because we will never allow Jeff Bezos and Amazon to censor us from speaking freely about medical treatments, medical studies, individual liberty, or challenging the government narrative surrounding COVID-19 vaccines," AFLDS said.

The doctors said Amazon's motives "are suspect, as they are closely aligned with the Biden Administration, due to massive government contracts" that are worth billions while Amazon pays almost no corporate taxes.

"Jeff Bezos and Amazon cannot argue with our scientific data and facts, so they would rather delete us entirely," AFLDS said.

"We have already been blacklisted on social media, and cannot host videos on YouTube. We must build our own internet servers that cannot be silenced by Big Tech, Big Pharma, or Big Government."

'Misinformation'

In July 2020, a video posted by America's Frontline Doctors of a press conference in front of the Supreme Court in Washington was removed by Facebook, YouTube and Twitter after more than 10 million hits because it was deemed to have shared "misleading" claims about the virus.

In particular, the social media giants didn't like the claims that hydroxychloroquine was an effective coronavirus treatment and that masks did not slow the spread of the virus.

But since then, more than 200 peer-reviewed studies have shown that hydroxychloroquine is a safe treatment that significantly cuts the risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19. And many studies using official data, particularly comparing states and countries with and without mask mandates, indicate masks have not slowed the spread of the novel coronavirus.

eBay Bans Dr. Seuss, Allows Hezbollah

Words and images that offend someone are just like violence. At least that's the modern safetyism argument. But the symbols of an Islamic terrorist organization are the symbol of someone else's freedom fighter.

eBay is very careful to keep the marketplace safe from things that might offend crybullies.

Online marketplace eBay Inc. said it is working to prevent the resale of six Dr. Seuss books that were pulled earlier this week by the company in charge of the late author’s works because they contain offensive imagery.

There's no room for And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street on eBay. Hezbollah though is another matter, as Aussie Dave at Isreallycool notes.

In January of this year, reader Craig noticed that an eBay seller named rentonstore was selling Hizbullah items – things like patches, flags and hats, which glorify the antisemitic Islamic terrorist group.

The eBay store in question still appears to be active, but the user who complained about it was banned. eBay, like the rest of Big Tech, is keeping the site free of Dr. Seuss books, but a safe space for Islamic terrorists.

      "With the impending Arizona Audit results going to be released soon, it’s no wonder that the left is doing anything they can to discredit Conservatives and Trump supporters."

https://freedomfirstnetwork.com/2021/06/rudy-giulianis-suspended-law-license-is-a-warning-to-conservatives-the-lefts-coming-for-you

Rudy Giuliani’s suspended law license is a warning to Conservatives… the Left’s coming for you

The fact that Rudy Giuliani had his law license suspended in the state of New York should be a warning to us all: If you believe the 2020 Presidential Election was stolen, the Left is coming for you.

~~~~~~~~~~
With the impending Arizona Audit results going to be released soon, it’s no wonder that the left is doing anything they can to discredit Conservatives and Trump supporters.
What we have to realize about this, as tragic as it is for Rudy, this is a warning shot to the rest of us. If we continue to hold the line and fight for election integrity, we face similar pressure from the powers-that-be.
It might come in the form of IRS audits, as happened under President Barack Obama. It might come through pressure from Big Corporations, as we are seeing with Wells Fargo closing Lauren Witzke’s bank accounts. Or it could be through losing your job or livelihood because you have an opinion that flies in the face of the mainstream narrative.
No matter what, we are facing a new America with these power-hungry leftists in power. They are using whatever they can to discredit, intimidate and suppress us and our message. My good friend, Pastor Ken Peters, just had a visit from the FBI because he was in Washington DC at the MAGA Rallies.
Let me be clear… Rudy Giuliani losing his law license is not the end game. It’s just the start of their strategy to overthrow America. Next will be Conservative political leaders, both in positions of power or simply talking heads. Then it’ll be the conservative influencers, such as all of us here at Freedom First Network. And then they’ll be coming after you… simply because you love America and will defend it from enemies foreign and domestic.
Understand that we are facing a tough fight. The globalists have overthrown our government and have all of its assets and resources at its disposal. There are no rules anymore. There is no fairness. It’s simply that the Left is doing whatever they have to do to hold onto power as long as possible, by whatever means necessary.
So understand this: We are in the fight of our lives. The odds are stacked against us. We have very little power. But it’s completely worth the fight. It’s incumbent upon us to continue to stay in the fight, keep battling through every legal and Constitutional means necessary, be strategic and take every opportunity we have to save America. It’s now or never. Do not give up.
More Proof that Tech Giants Twitter, Facebook and YouTube Are Working with Democrat State Governments to Censor Conservatives
During the 2020 election cycle Dr. Shiva Ayyarurai discovered that Twitter has built a special portal offered to certain governmental entities so that government officials can flag and delete content they dislike for any reason, as part of what they call “Twitter Partner Status.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, the man who invented email, ran for US Senate in Massachusetts as a Republican and made allegations of voter fraud on Twitter. These tweets were then deleted by the far-left tech giant.  Later it was discovered that they were deleted at the direction of government employees of the Massachusetts Secretary of State's office.

Discovering this, Dr. Avvadurai filed a federal lawsuit by himself, alleging that his federal civil rights were violated when the government silenced his political speech in order to affect an election.

Federal Judge Mark L. Wolf, a 1985 Reagan Appointee, set a hearing on pending motions for May 20, 2021 at 9:30AM EST. His court orders make it quite clear he is taking his case seriously and the court is highlighting several relevsnt cases that should give Twitter and its Bid Tech bully buddies some pause.

By quoting these two cases, legal observers note, the judge is signaling that Twitter's days of claiming it is a private company so as to avoid it’s clear oppression of conservative speech, banning scores of conservative journalists, and promotion of liberal views, may be coming to a close end.

Manhattan Cmty. Access Corp. v. Halleck, 139 S.Ct. 1921, 1928 (2019)

“A private entity can qualify as a state actor in a few limited circumstances-including, for example, … when the government compels the private entity to take a particular action…”

Blum v. Yaretsky, 457 U.S. 991, 1004 (1082)

“a State normally can be held responsible for a private decision only when it has exercised coercive power or has provided such significant encouragement, either overt or covert, that the choice must in law be deemed to be that of the State”

This case could spell the end of CDA 230.

CDA 230 is the provision of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 that gives internet and social media companies legal immunity from lawsuits due to the content they publish.

This provision in law gives companies like Facebook and Twitter a way to dismiss lawsuits, but it also gives them the ability to act with impunity so that their actions cannot be legally challenged. These companies have, according to their detractors, abused this immunity by suppressing dissident, and specifically conservative, views, viewpoints and journalism.setts.

         "We believe that this agenda will serve as the Republican platform to take on Big Tech going forward and unite our party to reject Big Tech’s ‘cancel culture’ practices,"

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house-republicans-unveil-legislative-plan-break-up-big-tech-stop-censorship-jim-jordan

House Republicans unveil legislative plan to break up Big Tech and stop censorship

Under pressure to come up with a conservative approach to holding Big Tech companies accountable, House Republicans announced on Wednesday an agenda that would make it easier to break up tech companies in court and challenge unfair censorship.

House Judiciary Committee Republicans, led by ranking member Jim Jordan of Ohio, said their agenda would speed up and strengthen antitrust enforcement, hold Big Tech accountable for censorship, and increase transparency around tech companies' content moderation decisions.

The proposals in the agenda will be introduced as legislation in the coming weeks by House Judiciary Republicans after they consult House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California and other top Republicans.

“Big Tech has targeted conservatives for far too long. House Judiciary Republicans have had enough," Jordan told the Washington Examiner.

"We believe that this agenda will serve as the Republican platform to take on Big Tech going forward and unite our party to reject Big Tech’s ‘cancel culture’ practices," he added.

The Republican agenda is meant to provide an alternative to the six bipartisan anti-Big Tech bills passed in June by the Judiciary Committee that many Republicans, including Jordan and McCarthy, oppose. They claim the bills, six sweeping antitrust bills aimed at reining in tech companies such as Apple, Amazon, Google, and Facebook, fail to address the censorship of conservatives.

Instead, the House Judiciary Republican agenda suggests proposals to make it easier to seek legal remedies against Big Tech companies' content moderation decisions by allowing individuals to sue the companies for censorship and overhaul the tech companies' tech liability protections.

Republicans want to amend Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, the controversial law that gives online platforms legal immunity for third-party content, to ensure content moderation decisions "are done in good faith, based on objectively reasonable criteria," according to the Big Tech agenda document obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The Republicans will introduce a proposal to require that large social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, make their content moderation decision and censorship actions publicly available and force them to pay a "massive fine," the agenda said, for failing to do so.

The Republican agenda also proposes making it easier to break up the Big Tech companies altogether by expediting trial court consideration of antitrust cases and empowering state attorneys general to utilize the same fast-track legal procedures available to the federal government.

       "Roose, it would seem, is furious that conservatives have access to conservative information that a paper, like The Times for example, doesn’t provide them. Can’t have that. His campaign has been a crusade to silence the right. And it found eager partisans among Facebook executives."

‘One of the Worst Narratives for Us’: Facebook Execs Feared Trump Win

Facebook executives were terrified of being blamed for a Trump presidential victory, according to a New York Times story. Those same executives later censored the Hunter Biden story that helped Joe Biden win the presidency.

Here’s The Times on the executive freakout at a possible Trump repeat:

“David Ginsberg, Facebook’s vice president of choice and competition, wrote that if Mr. Trump won re-election in November, ‘the media and our critics will quickly point to this ‘echo chamber’ as a prime driver of the outcome.”

Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app at the time, agreed.

“I really worry that this could be one of the worst narratives for us,” she wrote.

This is the same Facebook that violated its own rules to censor the Hunter Biden story before the presidential election. Director of Communications Andy Stone tweeted then that Facebook would be suppressing the New York Post story, saying, “While I will intentionally not link to the New York Post, I want be clear that this story is eligible to be fact checked by Facebook's third-party fact checking partners. In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform.” [Bold added]

The International Fact-Checking Network’s Associate Director Cristina Tardaquila called that move "dangerous." Yet now it’s pretty clear why they did it. Facebook executives were terrified about being called “a far-right echo chamber,” and didn’t want the blame for a Trump sequel.

The Polling Company which found that 9.4% of Biden voters said they wouldn't have voted for him if they knew about the Hunter Biden story. Some of those would have just not voted for president. The same poll also showed that a whopping 17% if Joe Biden's voters would not have voted for him had they been aware of major stories censored by the media. These numbers even surprised me, and I’ve been fighting the media for decades.

The Times claimed reports that conservatives did well on the platform “drove executives crazy.” That the analysis came from Facebook software called CrowdTangle made it even worse.

This comes from a Times article complaining that the software showed “that pro-Trump commentators were spreading misinformation and hyperpartisan commentary with stunning success.”

The story highlighted “that right-wing commentators like Ben Shapiro and Dan Bongino were getting much more engagement on their Facebook pages than mainstream news outlets.”

The article underscored how much Facebook executives didn’t want to be associated with conservative content. Nick Clegg, Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, criticized the Crowdtangle data saying, “our own tools are helping journos to consolidate the wrong narrative.”

        "We're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation."

         The Biden administration, IS, and HAS BEEN, flagging "problematic" posts for Facebook. That is clearly a violation of the Constitutional guarantee of Free Speech, but they are do so anyway...and Facebook is allowing this. What is "disinformation"? Easy answer...it is anything the Biden administration does not like. What we are seeing is the transformation of the United States into a full fledged banana republic, and it is happening in many arenas...UNLESS the voters can overcome the voter fraud and stop it!

https://www.wnd.com/2021/07/white-house-flagging-facebook-posts-spread-covid-misinformation/

White House: We're flagging Facebook posts that spread COVID 'misinformation'

The Biden administration has been "flagging problematic posts" for Facebook to remove, White House press secretary Jen Psaki disclosed Thursday. She said during the daily media briefing that the Office of the Surgeon General has ramped up its tracking of "disinformation" related to the COVID-19 pandemic on social media platforms.

"We're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation. We're working with doctors and medical experts ... who are popular with their audience with accurate information," she said. "So, we're helping get trusted content out there."

Along with artificial intelligence tools, Facebook deploys panels of fact-checkers who remove information that doesn't comport with the views of selected "experts."

Until recently, as establishment media began to pay attention to the evidence, Facebook censored stories on the possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic originated in a lab in Wuhan, China.

Psaki said the White House also has requested that Facebook share relevant data regarding any posts that "spread disinformation." The administration, she said, is asking Facebook to "measure and publicly share the impact of misinformation on their platform."

"Facebook should provide, publicly and transparently, data on the reach of COVID-19 vaccine misinformation, not just engagement, but the reach of the misinformation and the audience that it’s reaching," Psaki said. "That will help us ensure we're getting accurate information to people. This should be provided not just to researchers but to the public so that the public knows and understands what is accurate and inaccurate."

The White House also wants Facebook and other social media platforms to "create a robust enforcement strategy" and to take "faster action against harmful posts."
