Victoria was a very stern woman who considered herself a monarch with no peers and her contemporaries would often watch their step with her.

Lloyd,

In your "sexy" press release you wrote:

<< Playboy, the first magazine ever to be honored on a stamp...>

Oops! Not quite. #3185c, the first issue of Life Magazine stamp in the 1930's CTC series issued in 1998, was the first magazine honored on a stamp.

And as to Todd's claiming page six notoriety for the British tabloids, I'd suggest it's page three. Check it out. :-)

Lloyd,

And note that I didn't include #1700, New York Times' publisher Adolph Oches, issued in 1976, as the first magazine on a stamp, since, well, it isn't a magazine.

Yes, but there's no accounting for the tabloid-style contributions made by the reporters in recent years...  [ducking]

I didn't bother to look, but I was pretty sure some magazine in some country had been honored before. That's why I label these things "[press release]."

New Zealand, in its Nostalgia set in 1999, commemorated the Women's Weekly magazine on the $1.20 stamp.
India, in a set for "India-89" International Stamp Exhibition, published in 1989 a 6R.50 stamp featuring Early Indian philatelic magazines.

So "press release" means you aren't sure about the facts???

"[press release]" means I'm posting what was sent me and making no representations about the veracity, yes.
