Good afternoon,  Stormshadow!

But as we're both finding out,  (and the hard way),   only a relative few of us african/indigenous folk either know/understand much about the past nature of black/indian relations in this country and/or this continent,   let alone about the black/indigenous connections,   via the here and now...

Both non-indigenous and indigenous folk allude and claim that two now popular  latin american leaders Chavez and Morales as their own:

In terms of how we identify ourselves:

The reality they're really our own...

If and when  one and all faces up to that too:

All the various groups will also realize and recognize why we should  not be adversarvies and why  we should be allies...

At least that's my take on this subject...

FYI...

Take care...

Later...

Peace...

Please allow me to point you (again) towards "the Florida Seminole Tribe" The Ashanti's are well remembered, and a part of the blood line for several families.

First of all?

Yes...

I hope and pray everybody posting on these boards do have a life!

But...

A whole heckuva lot of time et al does past before you get back to me!

Not to digress...

And a belated apology to my Black Seminole relations...

Yes...

John Horse was  one of a number of legendary Black Seminole mainstays I was and I am aware of...

But,  well...

The overalll history of the Black Seminoles I didn't have a clue about!

Or their pivotal place in the mix?

That was then:

This is now!

(BIG smile)...

Flashforward...

And for the most obvious of reasons I which you or somebody knowledgeable would update us on the present status of today's Seminole Freedmen Descendants!

In eithe case?

That information will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Later...

Peace...

Hello.   my name is casimiro.   I am in the process of researching my family, and have been informed by my father's family that they are Seminole.  I am African-American.  I am aware of how alot of american people claim "Indian"ancestry, and I didn't want to insult any group of indigenous people with a false claim of membership without proof.   My Grandfather was a man named Walter Gore, and he lived in South Carolina.  Do you recall seeing anyone on your current rolls by the last name Gore?

I'm not certain, but there MAY be a family that lives on the Brighton Rez (near Lake Okeechobee) in Florida with that last name.

As for the families that were imprisoned in Oklahoma I can't say. I'll ask some friends from the weleekta area.

I suggest that you contact http://semtribe.com to find out more.
