I was told that Sakura pens were good on polymer clay.  I use those and so far, they work.  Time will tell.

I never thought about using colored pencils. You are giving me such good ideas!

I am learning that Acrylics are the best medium to apply, but other materials can be used. Results may vary!

Agreed, I use acrylic paint on the clay much of the time.

Can I use Aleene's Tacky Glue, or do I need a different type?

Sounds like you're having a great time with PC! Thought I'd share some resources.

Heads Up about black Sharpies used on cured PC....over time they will bleed purple.

I use Sakura Microperm black pens 05 (thick)  and 03 (med) for signing PC

Pigma Micron pens tend to smear
