“The Cherokee people exercised the most basic democratic right, the right to vote,” said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “Their voice is clear as to who should be citizens of the Cherokee Nation. No one else has the right to make that determination.

I've seen this statement quoted quite a bit.

It's amusing and disturbing that he doesn't see the irony is "his most basic right."  As far as I can tell this is an extension of the ownership of those former slaves and determining their destiny even after being free.  They were owned within the nation, and then ejected once free.  Imagine if the United States nation decided to do the same with former slaves

The hypocracy is over the top! The CNO tribal leadership will try to wrap themselves in the banner of sovreignity. Yet, the tribalal leadership will RACE to state court to prevent their own tribal citizens from forming a union.

Good morning,  one and all!

But it seems and sounds like what embolders our enemies is that we and our allies aren't all that aware of when the black cherokee indian slaves were actually freed and/or when adopted black non indians descendants were respected as equal tribal members...

Also keep in mind both siuations were brought about or affirmed by elected officials/earlier tribal documents/etc.

That is?

There's a lot that went on and down between 1866 and the 1890's which I'm not even hip to as regards the ancestors of my distant Western African Cherokee kinfolk!

And as the saying goes:

"If it ain't on the page..."

"You won't be on the stage!"

FYI...

Later...

Peace...

  • CHAD SMITH IS A FOOL AND WILL BE REPONSIBLE FOR THE DOWN FALL OF THE CHEROKEE NATION.

In case you ChfRedhawk hadn't notice ... not only the Cherokee people, but ALL indigneous Native American peoples of Shemite and Kushyte  ancestry are already down.  And this happened long before Chad Smith was even born.  Check out the cousins of the Cherokees called the Hawaiians, for one example.

  • A  LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON THE FREEDMANS ROLL ARE NOT THE DESENDANCE OF SLAVES BUT FULLBLOODS THAT DIDNOT RESPOND TO THE GOVERNMENT AT THE TIME THE ROLLS WHERE WRITTEN.

This is nonsense.  The Dawes Role is in reference to the Dawes Act of 1887 where the illegal Congress passed this legislation basically making Native American reservation tribal or communal owership of property illegal ... so that our indigenous people would have NO lands or home or culture at all in our own ancestral homelands of the USA.  Reservation lands in Oklahoma was surveyed and allotted to individual memebers of the nations under the Dawes Act ... much of which ended up in the hands of whites -- as planned.  There were only about Cherokee 2,000 slaves (and I have yet to read anywhere that these slaves were restricted to being only of the sons of Kush (son of Racham/Cham/Ham) <as war captives from other tribes may have been enslaved as well> during the time they were all ejected from their own ancestral homelands east of the Mississippi. And as we know ... these immigrant blacks of western european ancestry who migrated earlier to the Caribbeans and to Africa as indentured servants are lying about their alleged transAtlantic slave trade and were never slaves in the USA.  A few thousands were hired as indentured servants and were paid freedom fees at the end of their contract of service, which were upheld under white colonial law of the USA.

  • WE MUST STOP CHAD SMITH AND OTHERS IN HIS TRIBE AND FIGHT HIM AT ALL COST.  CHAD SMITH IS A THREAT TO ALL NATIVE PEOPLE.

As we can now read for ourselves ... our ancestors sat quietly by as Tecumseh spoke of the greed of the whites and how they would stop at nothing until they possessed all the lands of our Native American peoples.  And now we have this ChfRedhawk wanting our people to do the same thing today ... sit by and allow whites who are the footsoldiers of the western european Negroes <who are racially classifed as Blacks, Negroes, African-Americans, Haitians, Creoles and Africans> infiltrate the Cherokee nation so as to do more damage than what is already done.  Everything we are being told is a lie ... especially about who our ancestors were and where they came from.  The western european Negro or Blacks, African-Americans, etc.., are not even the real Africans who are the sons of Racham/Cham/Ham.  These immigrant blacks from western europe are the sons of Yaphet, son of Qayin (mispelled Cain in euro-bible) and they have always tried to rule over the world and will stop at nothing in their destructive path to take what is not divinely or legally theirs.

Eveything possible to protect the real indigneous Cherokee peoples should be done.  And if limiting the membership of the nation to the Dawes role will do it ... then so be it.  And why shouldn't  the Shemite Cherokee people exclude "descendants of those listed on Intermarried White and Freedmen rolls taken at the same time" ...?  The Freedmen of Native American Kushyte <sons of Racham/Cham/Ham> ancestral homeland is originally in the states of KY, TN, VA, DC, NC, MD.  They were captured and sold as slaves thought the South and special plantations were set up in the states of AL, MI, west GA, LS, TX, AR where they were shipped by the million, comprising the domestic slave trade of the USA... which included Shemite Native Americans who had been captured and made slaves by whites who made up 1/4th of the domestic slaves in the USA... being misclassified as mulattoes to hide their real identities.  As we all know ... mulattoes are those born of the white male and nonwhite mother and who cannot have children, because the males are barren and the females are sterile.  So there is no way possible for any white claiming to be descended from "Intermarried Whites" to be presenting facts about having Cherokee blood -- this is biologically impossible.  Just like we cannot take the word of anyone claiming to be woman these days, either -- regardless of hair type or skin color make-over.  The following story about the alleged Asian Indian woman runner winning a silver metal at the Asian games makes my point ... After examining this alleged woman runner, it was shown that it was male (cosmetically made over) to resemble an Asian Indian woman.  We all need to be very careful ... as even black males are faking it as Native American women these days.

NEW DELHI, India -- An Indian runner who won a silver medal in the women's 800 meters at the Asian Games failed a gender test and was stripped of the medal. .... The test reports sent to the Indian Olympic Association on Sunday said Soudarajan "does not possess the sexual characteristics of a woman," The Times of India reported. The test was administered by a medical commission set up by the games' organizers. .... Instead, the official said Sounderajan appeared to have "abnormal chromosomes." Rosetta321:  No disrespect but you are 100% wrong and incorrect about the Dawas Commission.   My people did not all answer to this for the reasons I just stated. This is not a theory but a fact,   I would not be here living today if it wasn't true.  So to speak out of line with something you have no proff of is off the wall.  As to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma my trible ban  have made a truth and we will not brake that truth as long as all people of Indian blood remain on there roll.

  • Rosetta321:  No disrespect but you are 100% wrong and incorrect about the Dawas Commission.

Defending the illegal Dawas Commission under the Dawes Act ....?  Now, I know you are confused.

  •  My people did not all answer to this for the reasons I just stated.

What "my people" are you talking about?  Alleged descendants of white mulattoes? ... which is biologically impossible.  Or are you referring to alleged descendants of the 2000 slaves that are by no means descended from western european Negroes or these immigrant blacks falsely claiming to be 'african-americans' ...?  Any Kushyte Native Americans brought as slaves into the Cherokee nation have a right to be restored to their own ancestral homelands in the upper South here in the USA ... not confined to illegal reservations living under Shemite Native American and whites faking it as Shemite NA rule.

  • So to speak out of line with something you have no proff of is off the wall.

Do you have proof of your blood ancestry?  Every white and immigrant black cosmetically made over seem to be faslely claiming to be descended from the Cherokees and all other real Shemite Native American nations in the USA.  Not only to prevent them from ever regaining their original ancestral homelands back ... but also to steal what lands they have left as part of these illegal reservations as well.  Talk about greediness without end with respect to western europeans and their reprobate allies ...

  • As to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma my trible ban  have made a truth and we will not brake that truth as long as all people of Indian blood remain on there roll.

What trible ban are you referring to?  And since when has it been lawful for the USA or any agency of the USA government to dictate who is and who is not a full member of any indigenous Native American nation?

To the handful of regular or returning posters and our guests:

We can't always keep out those who would dare to advance their own hidden or not so hidden agendas:

But the best means and ways to let them realize and recognize they're failing is to just ignore them and not be a part of their self serving b. s.

Now let us get back to whatever we were or are doing or saying for the sake of our Cherokee Freedmen Descendants to secure their  rightful places among more than just anti-black voters in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma...

Black caucus questions Cherokee vote

By BEN EVANS, Associated Press Writer Tue Mar 13, 8:22 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Black leaders in Congress asked the federal government Tuesday to weigh in on the legality of a vote by the Cherokee Nation earlier this month to revoke citizenship from descendants of former tribal slaves.

Saying they were "shocked and outraged," more than two dozen members of the Congressional Black Caucus signed a letter to the Interior Department's Bureau of Indian Affairs questioning the "validity, legality, as well as the morality" of the March 3 vote.

"The black descendant Cherokees can trace their Native American heritage back in many cases for more than a century," said Rep. Diane Watson (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif. "They are legally a part of the Cherokee Nation through history, precedent, blood and treaty obligations."

Watson emphasized that the federal government spends billions of dollars a year on Native American programs, including for the Cherokee Nation.

In the special election, more than 76 percent of those casting ballots voted to amend the tribal constitution to limit citizenship to descendants of "by blood" tribe members and remove an estimated 2,800 freedmen descendants.

The descendants had become tribal citizens after the Cherokee Nation Supreme Court ruled in March 2006 that they had been wrongly excluded, citing an 1866 treaty the court said assured tribal citizenship to freedmen descendants.

Mike Miller, a Cherokee Nation spokesman, said the vote was simply a move by the tribe to restrict its rolls to members with known Cherokee descent. It had nothing to do with racism, he said.

"There are many, many black Cherokees or Cherokees of African descent who have tribal citizenship and will continue to have tribal citizenship, because they have a documented tribal ancestor," he said. "What we're really talking about here is whether non-Indians should be citizens."

He also said courts have repeatedly upheld tribes' rights to determine their own citizenship.

"There has not been federal involvement, nor is it proper," he said.

The descendants tried to stop the ballot measure in court but were denied. They have vowed to continue fighting.

Along with Watson, Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich., civil rights movement veteran John Lewis (news, bio, voting record), D-Ga., and House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (news, bio, voting record), D-Mich., were among 26 lawmakers to sign the letter.

They asked for a legal interpretation of the vote and requested possibilities for government recourse.
