Shouldn't the plural of ‘moose’ be ‘meese, as the plural of ‘goose’ is ‘geese’?

No, according to Snaggletooth the Cat, "meese" is the plural of "mouse," because he kept saying, "I hate them meeses to pieces!"

One should never confuse moose and geese!

Geese are mean!

I cooked a goose once for Christmas and it was quite tasty.

A hunter once gave me some moose meat from a moose he got during archery season.

I cooked it and I found it quite horrible. Extremely strong, nasty tasting in my humble opinion.

Never again (and I've eaten/enjoyed deer over the years)

Your wild apple reminded me of this:

'ANGRY ORCHARD' CRISP APPLE CIDER

This crisp and refreshing cider mixes the sweetness of the apples with a subtle dryness for a balanced cider taste.
The fresh apple aroma and slightly sweet, ripe apple flavor make this cider hard to resist.

ANGRY!

I usually have a cider with my dad at the pub we visit for lunch most Saturdays, but we prefer pear.
