Thanks. I just emailed Unemployment, and told them my situation. I just hope they understand that I can't pay them right now. One thing that's got me bothered recently is that someone told my Mum that what I did was a Federal offense, and now she's worried that they'll send me to jail. Personally, I don't see it, since that way, not only wouldn't they get their money back, they'd have to pay to keep me incarcerated.

Thanks. My Mum doesn't seem to think so, and I hear it from her all the time. I'm going to try it, anyway. Besides, it's just until I can get back on my feet.

ralph, i'm glad you got another month on your apartment. i've been in your boat many, many times. actually, i think i'm still in part of it ;) you've just gotta have faith that it will all work out in the end. and then talk to everyone about finding a place to crash in the meantime. never know who's going to say yes, your best friend, your parents, the stranger at the party who won't remember the offer the next day (hey, it's a roof over your head).

i received my first disability denial last month (ps don't be surprised if you are denied the first time, it's almost routine). i'm applying for a similiar reason. if you are working it will be harder for you to be approved. but you have to work to live. i was told you can't make over $700/month to qualify--if that helps you any.

if you need to talk just email me (

god bless.

I'm sorry, what did you do that was a federal offense? I don't remember you saying you did anything, but I may have missed it. I highly doubt it Ralph.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not working right now, so maybe that's in my favor.

When I quit my job at Accu-Chek, I didn't tell the unemployment office that I quit. They call it fraud. <sigh> I sent them an email last night, I hope the right person gets to read it, and that they understand. I want to pay it back, but I *can't* right now.

I'm not understanding I guess. You quit your job and didn't tell the unemployment office? How is that their business unless you plan to collect unemployment and then you usually have a right to collect it.

Oh I think I see now. You quit, not got laid off so you filed for unemployment?

Well, I went to the welfare office today, and found out that the only way I can apply for welfare is if I have a disability. And if that disability lasts for more than a year, they make me apply for social security, which I'm doing anyway. Even if I do get welfare, I only get a cash allowance of $195 per month, which won't even cover my rent, let alone my other bills. <sigh> Looks like I'm going to have to quit school and go back to the factories full time. So much for hopes and dreams.

I wish you were out here. I could hire you today for a position in Valencia

Anyway, I believe that things will all work out for you in the end.. or is that the beginning?

Please hang in there!
