Why would you fly an enemy flag in your own barracks?
As a souvenir maybe ?
You wouldn't want an ISIS flag hanging in your barracks.
We had Hezbollah flags taken as Souvenirs by various units , the taking of the flag indicates the defeat of the enemy, some people used to take heads or noses or the right hand of their enemies go back further and they used to cut off the penis of the dead rather than do a body count .. imagine coming home in the good old days with a large bag of John Thomas's just to show what a good soldier you had been ?

These flags are displayed in barracks with the same reverence as the US flag.
After taking a Hezbollah flag, do you raise it up a flagpole and salute it?
No, the flags were emblems of defeat of the enemy
Then it's not the same.
I think we are talking at cross purposes
The intent of hanging the flag of a group you support is different than the intent of capturing the flag of an enemy.
The first is an act of reverence, the second is jeering disrespect.
People in the south don't jeer and laugh at the Confederate flag. They raise it up a flagpole and salute it.
It's a pretty simple difference, yet a very important one.
