I need your help.  I'm looking for beads to make Indian jewelry, where i live i found a place that will sell my projects but they have to be about indians.  I'm disabled so i need to find them cheap.  I need to do this fast as my dr says if i don't go to the ocean for awhile i will die in 7 months. I don't understand it but i have a bacteria that is not cured by antibotics he said the ocean is the only thing that kills it, if not to late. It took them a long tiem to find out what it was. It is very painful and ugly.  I need to make these to make the money to get there.  In my town there are no stores that sell the beads i need.  I have looked on the internet but they are so expensive and being on disability you don't get much extra money. I'm doing without my cable tv so i could get on the internet for patterns and beads.  I'm having alot of trouble with the peyote stitch. And i can make all kinds of jewelry and i don't know why i'm having so much trouble with this stitch if you have any ideas please let me know or patterns. I've tring using seed beads oh it was awful so i went to e beads and that didnt help i don't know what i'm doing wrong my when try to do the second row it goes into the first row. I'm been practicing until i can find the right beads but i must be brain dead with this stitch i can do all the others.. If anyone can help i would really appreciate i have no family and my aid is my only friend. So i would love to hear from all of you.  Thank you

Tigereye57,

You can find help with peyote stitch here.  This is Suzanne Cooper's site and she has lots of info on starting peyote that may help you.

Bead & Button has info on doing peyote stitch here.

If you Google "indian beads" for sale you will find many sites that sell them.

Good luck, hope you make to the ocean quickly.

Hello!  You can also find step by step tutorials on the About.com Beadwork site.  If you look at the homepage for Beadwork and then look down on the left hand side, you'll see a link to Beading Stitch Tutorials - there are all sorts of tutorials for flat and tubular peyote stitch, and I am always updating them with variations on the stitch like increases and decreases, etc.  There are also tutorials for brick stitch and herringbone stitch, netting, and some new ones in the works for right angle weave and chevron stitch.

Good luck and welcome to the forums!

-Jen
