I am trying to figure out what type of dog my new puppy is. He used to be abused when i got him and im not even sure how old he is. I think maybe 10 weeks now? He looks like he has black lab in him but i believe that he is probally mixed with something else.

He's definitely a cutie, and I agree that there is likely to be some lab or other type of retriever in the mix.   

With my retrievers, usually the first tooth falls out almost exactly at four months.

Can you give us a clue about his weight? 

As he grows, then it may be easier to tell what else is in his lineage, but always it is a guess.  Read the blue dot discussion about photos that help us identify possible breeds in the mix.

Congratulations the pup is beautiful.  I know they have d/n/a tests now that you can swab your pup's mouth and send it out and they will be able to tell what the mix is. You will find the information in "In the Conpany of Dogs" (inthecompanyofdogs.com) catalog under DNA Breed ID Test Kit. They say you will get your answer within two weeks.  The cost is $59.95.  Hope this information is helpful.

I doubt seriously that he is 10 weeks yet.  When you find that first tooth that has fallen out he will be 20 weeks old that week.

He's going to be a wonderful companion.
