To the Zenyatta haters who INSIST on dogging the horse not connections...you asked for "A" sound reason on Zenyatta just the facts...I'll give you several.

First and foremost I'd like YOU to tell me what horse that's actually raced for several years now you judge based it's class on one year of it's career ONLY?? Better yet I want you to tell me what horse of notable mention from any time period do you judge it's greatness based not on it's career as a whole but off just one campaign only?  Doesn't even have to be a Secretariat or a Seattle Slew or a triple crown winner for that matter...just want ONE solid name of a horse that you measure it's greatness based on one year of it's racing career?  Then tell me why you are using this based solely on Zenyatta...just the facts though please :0)  Oh and don't try and tell me she's not run trip digit beyers this year...read on and you'll see she's posting plenty fast fractions when it's necessary for the win.

If times and Beyers are so important then guess who ran the second fastest Ladies Classic ever? Guess who ran the LC over 5 seconds faster than Personal Ensign and Winning Colors a Kentucky Derby winner? Guess who ran this same race close to 2 seconds faster than Azeri did with Azeri's very same jockey?  That's right little ol' Zenyatta did it and she did it at the same 1 1/8th that all these others did it in too...since the LC was changed in 1988 (Pers Ensign/Winning colors race year) from the classic distance to the 1 and 1/8th.

Zenyatta holds the second fastest time ever with a time of 1:46.85 beaten only by Inside Information in 1995.

I don't think anyone hates Zenyatta.  She's just in way over her head in the Classic and she is going to be one of the favorites.

  1. Weak campaign
  2. Slow speed figures
  3. Never ran in open company
  4. Having to circle 13 horses instead of the usual 5 or 6
  5. Never tried the distance

At 25-1, she's worth a bet.  Anything under that and the risk is not worth the reward.

As for the time.  It was on synthetic, please don't compare it with races run on dirt.

She is  such a fun horse I sure hope she wins the Classic. No horse has personality like her.

Your argument is sound and right on! Her career credentials are top quality, her record is perfect. She belongs in the Classic, win or lose. To run her in the distaff makes a mockery of the Breeders Cup. Had I owned Zenyatta, she would have raced in open company all year, as she proved her command of the distaff division last year :)

its  time  you  joined  the  club of  folks  that  dont  know  how  to read  or  understand  what  folks  have  said.  In  fact  maybe  you  can lead the  way.

Ist of  all my  dayling   Horse of the  year  is  not  based  on entire  record  it is  based on  curent  year   That  would be  jan 1  2009  until  dec31  2009

2nd had  you  been  around  last  year   you  would  know  i  was  a  huge  fan  of  ZENYATTA and  thought  her  BC classic  was  nothing  short of  amazing.

Just  because i feel her  connections  have  been  ducking   and  settling  to race in  california  does  not  mean i think the  horse  is  a  bad  horse.    Had  you  taken the time  to read  which  obviously  you  dont     what  i have  said  is  she  hasnt  a  shot  at  horse of the year  following  that path.

once again  if  you  have  ever  read  anything  about  what  i have  said  about  zenyatta  i  have  said  it  is  a  shame   that didnt  give  her an opportunity  this  whole  year  to  see  just  how  great  she  could  have  been.

Now with the  last  race of her  carreer   ahead   is  not the  time  to  finnaly  go for  broke  is  what  i have  said       because  it  doesnt  fit in the equation of  the  owner  /trainers actions  prior  to  bc

what  does  fit   is  the  hype  i/e

we  plan to run  her in the  east------- big  fat  lie  (after  her leaving  churchil  scratching)

we  plan  to  go outside of  california  ......... big  fat  lie ( after  her  first  race back in  june)

we plan to take on the  boys---------big  fat  lie (sometime in  july or  august)

The  hype is designed  to  keep  folks  talking about her in front of the  would be  voters  for  Horse of the year)   do you not get that?

If  she  runs in the  Classic    good  for them

If  she  wins   great for  her      Just  dont  believe  either one  will happen.

so i dont  believe  that makes  me a  zenyatta  hater    what  it makes me  is  someone  that  follows  horse racing
