Or, more accurately, have far far far far far far far far less chance of winning a race than their likely short odds will imply...

In no particular order:

(1) Pyro (Dirt Mile): can't see him handling the surface. Simon Crisford has already alluded to this. No chance I'd say.

(2) Dar Re Mi (Turf): What is Gosden up to running her in this? Anyone? Talented, highly progressive, tough as nails, but alas running for third place. Or maybe second.

(3) Delegator (Turf Mile): Will probably go off second favorite in the race behind the French wonder filly. The sharp track may help him as I'm not convinced he properly stays a mile but the likely fast ground will count against him. Cannot see anyway he runs past the filly and although Dettori will be on him, I rather fancy Gladiatorus will smash him at three times the odds.

(4) Man of Iron (Marathon): Everyone will pile into him as some sort of wise guy horse because of his pedigree and connections. Not the strongest race but shouldn't be good enough to win this or go close.

(5) Lookin at lucky (Juvenile): Nice horse but will be what, 2/1? Anyone taking this sort of price about a horse in this particular BC race is not going to win long-term.

(6) Zenyatta (Classic): Track suits, distance quite possibly suits, will be finishing like a train....for 3rd. Simply not fast enough as far as I am concerned, even against a bunch as poor as this years Classic field. Think she may even be vulnerable in the Ladies Classic if she goes there against the likes of Proviso, Careless Jewel and even Rainbow View if she runs. Love her to bits but sorry, at the likely prices (2/1? 5/2? 3/1 tops?), not for me.

(7) Colonal John (wherever): Don't think he has a good enough finishing kick. If he can't get past Gitano Hernando how on earth is he going to get past Rip? Wouldn't fancy him in the Mile either.

(8) Zensational (sprint): Will probably still be in front 200m out. But at the finishing line? I think not.... very very difficult to make all on Pro-Ride in a sprint.

(9) Cowboy Cal (Mile): What, you gonna tell me he is going to run with me onn the front end for the first half mile?! Ha! (setting myself up for a fall here....!!!!)

(10) Presious Passion (Turf): All the Europeans wanted in this race was a pacemaker. And now they have it. Will be reeled in, mark my words! (and don't forget to hurl tons of abuse at me if he isn't reeled in! (but he will be!!))

So there it is. If anyone here is planning on backing any of these horses for the win at Santa Anita this year, I suggest they instead give their money to charity.

If you knew half as much as you thought you did, you'd be a rich man and for sure wouldn't be posting on this board................... GUN

I would say that if 4 of those make the super ticket, you had better find a new hobby.

I haven't picked up a DRF yet to see these horses, but the one you mentioned for 3rd, couldn't hit the board with a head start.

Are you saying that people who post on this board are all poor guninpocket?

Admittedly I am struggling just a little to pay off this months electricity bill, but I am not poor.

You will note Plodderman that many of the horses I have put up are either favourite or quite high up in the pecking order for their races, so mathematically speaking I am likely to be embarrassed somewhere here, possibly several times.

Still, I fully expect all 10 to fail to win their races. And I will be basking in hero-worship when they do just this, which they will.
