If you are thinking of handicapping the impossible when the Breeders' Cup comes to an empty theater near you next weekend you had better think again. The Poly Crap is certain to attract the 2nd and 3rd string European horses while the best dirt horses in America are staying home.
The UNDER/OVER number of lengths for the 2009 Kentucky Derby Winner Mine That Bird losing the BC CLASSIC is 5. His odds will be about 20 to 1 at post time. If I were a betting man I would bet the OVER.
It's like the winner of the World Series going over to England to take on Manchester United in the Soccer World Championships. They would have a better chance than our American Kentucky Derby winner.
The Californian contingent of horses running on Poly Crap would have no shot competing on dirt against the best East Coast horses. We don't send American horses to Europe to compete on the turf against their best horses because we realize we have no chance.
And you don't see the Europeans holding a World Championship and inviting the American horses to compete on dirt against their best turf horses because they aren't stupid!
But somehow the idiots who run the Breeders' Cup think America wants to see horses we have never heard of, with unknown Jockey's {to us} who do not race American style {they all prefer to sit back and close} come here and kick our butts.
There are 2 different distinct styles of racing. American racing is on dirt and is geared for SPEED. European racing is built on stamina at distances of a mile and quarter and longer.
In America the preponderance of stake races are at a mile and an eighth. The only exception is our Classic races which are run on dirt at a mile and a quarter. And for the second straight year the Breeders' Cup is being run on Poly Crap which favors TURF horses.
And this is the American version of a Breeders' Cup Championship no less! The Crack Breeders' Cup Committee has set back racing 30 years with this ill advised back to back two-years running on Poly Crap adventure. When will they ever learn?
If anyone really thinks they know anything about the 2nd and 3rd string European horses coming here to take the American money down in what amounts to really betting on cockroach races they had better think again. Not for me - No Thank You!
Not one of you has mentioned a European horse or jockey by name. And that says it all! The Breeders' Cup can't even give away the tickets for an event no one really cares about. Some fields will have 8 horses or less competing. Now what does that say?
I think they just gave away a few thousand tickets to the USO to fill up the embarrassing empty seats. Do you see MLB or the NFL giving away World Series or Superbowl tickets to fill empty stadiums? I rest my case.
