Only a few days to go and most of the talk has been about the European 'locks'.  If the posts here are correct, I better not be spreading too much money around when pick 3's are surely going to pay in the $20 to $50 range.

Then again...

Come on, I know this isn't your first rodeo.  How many times have the favorites looked overwhelming but then its bombs away all day long?  Don't you all remember  Breeders Cup past when it was almost impossible to find doubles, let alone pick 3's and pick 6's could only be had by computer geeks?  How about those Gulfstream superfectas that would pay for mansions?

Surely you all have one, so let's hear about the longshots.

Mine is Justenuffhumor.  Has great connections and a jockey who has been known to bring in a longshot or two.  Was brought along slowly through his conditions and now he goes up against some world class horses.  If he loads ok (has a bit of a gate history and loads with a blanket) and gets a good trip, he should come running.  All he has to do is outfoot some filly named Goldikova and I'll have a $40 or so winner.

A must use in multi race exotics and everywhere on tri tickets.  My Breeders Cup longshot special (for today anyway).

Put to rest what you thought of me, while I clean the slate with the hands of uncertainty

Turf  $22.90

Distaff  $22.00

Filly & Mare Turf  $14.00

Juvenile  $16.00

Juvenile Fillies  $17.70

Mile  $20.50

Sprint  $22.00

Classic  $31.50

The "average winning payoff" for these respective races.  Never to presume anything of coarse we can't draw any conclusions from this other than historically the Breeders' Cup offers plenty of value.

I'll say this about Justenuffhumor I'm paying attention definitely a top four prospect.

Lord Stanakill. This horse has a great deal of class. His workouts have been good.

Well two of my favorite horses in training are longshots this weekend:

1. Sara Louise - Has the distinction of being the last horse to finish in front of Rachel The Great. Ran a monster race against Indian Blessing in last, and seems to love the Pro-Ride based on her works. Could work out a nice trip in here. Is she good enough? I think so.

2. Quality Road - Probably has a better shot in the Dirt Mile, but I think he looked better going long in his last than in the Travers for which I think he was ill-prepared. After his long layoff, he may have been a bit short, and is just about ready to peak...I hope! If he likes the surface, he could surprise.

My disclaimer is that I love these two horses so I may be seeing their chances through the prism of my heart.

Cost of Freedom.

He ran a respectable last out against Gayego at SA coming off a long layoff (or second off).  He comes from just off the pace and may be ready to fire his next time out.

You wanted a pipe dream!!  Now after the post draws I'll see if I can pull the trigger.
