Right before the race, I was looking over Crush the Cup again. Winners in the past had 5 -11 wins at about a mile. I did the math, and Furthest Land had 6, next was Bullsbay Mambo Chocolate. Don't know how they came in yet but I heard announcer say Furthest Land pulled the upset!

Furthest Land also had the highest beyer speed on AW out of 'em all.

There's always an explanation

I had real cash on him and I jumped out of my seat!!!!!  Plus he kept a decent pick 3 alive.

I kept wondering, am I missing something?  Why is he 20-1. I  bet him pretty good, got  him sandwiched between the favorites in P3 and DD.  Had Readys Echo in third and fourth on my tri and super, so I was hoping they pulled him down a notch or two, but realized they rarely do in the BC.   I went with him because he was 2-2 on the synthetic with his best figures coming from there.  Was right there with the others looking at just those figures.  Midshipman with only one race was short, Mastercraftman did not look as good on AW as on turf  The only other one I thought for the win was Neko Bay, the local expert.  Only other bomb i got was Dancing in Silks but could not hook him up with anything in the P3's

I ended up playing three longshots in my pick 3's:  Neko Bay, Furthest Land and Ready's Echo.  I didn't like any of the favorites and decided not to let the odds sway me.  In advance, I liked Bulls Bay and Pyro but changed my mind.  Furthest Land 2 for 2 on synthetics swayed me his way and the pick 3 with Goldikova - Furthest Land - Conduit paid very well with a 3 x 3 x 1 ticket.
Put to rest what you thought of me, while I clean the slate with the hands of uncertainty
