A customer's mother and father went to a commercial gem mine in Hiddenite, NC.  Among other stones that I will be working with, she brought me a twinned quartz crystal that her mother wanted left in its natural state, but wrapped in sterling silver to make a pendant.

Truly traditional wrapping wouldn't work as this is a rough stone with uneven shape and size.  Therefore, I decided to make a "frame" of wire that the crystal could lie in.  Using 20 gauges Sterling Silver square half hard wire, this is the result:

Pendant,Quartz,Sterling Silver Earring,Handcrafted,Unique,Artison

Well done John!  You've highlighted this great piece of quartz to show off its natural beauty without detracting from it.  I love what you've done.

Very nice John. Your wraps are so good especially on a rough cut stone.

Very nice job, John!  Looks lovely and holds the stone securely, which is what it's all about!
