Hey Everyone.

This morning, DH and I went to a lovely Christmas Craft Show held in the town of Springfield, Al and is called "Homestead Hollow".

After parking, you cross over a wooden bridge over a babbling creek that winds all thru the park area. Tall beautiful trees are in abundance. You will see some old log cabins that you can tour, a gristmill, a moonshine still, a old Model-T Ford sitting in front of Granny's cabin. You'll hear the music of a bluegrass group and old fashion gospel singing sometimes. The Amish are making old fashion candles and a man next to them is making boiling lye soap. You can see different old fashion wash pots, hand-cranked washing machines, plows and different farm implements.

As you walk along,  the crafts booths begin that are scattered in the trees. You can smell the popcorn popping, the roasting peanuts, and the meat skins cooking. You pass booths that have a variety of craft items from quilts, hand- carving, wooden yard signs, wreaths, & jewelry and so much more. Booths with special dips that you can buy along with homemade fuge wedges or peanut brittle.

The momas & daddies are pushing strollers as the old folks walk along slowly with their canes. All are looking and enjoying the sunshine. A horse and wagon is pulling the kids around the park for a $2.00 ride, while others are taking ponies rides.

As you continue to walk around looking, you suddenly come to a booth with the most delightful couple. Both are smiling and willing to help you in any way. As you walk up to them...guess what...they are Jim & Darlene Varner from Tennessee. Our very own Jim from this forum! Jim's blue eyes are sparking along with his smile and willing to give me a big hug. Darlene is a very friendly woman that didn't even mind the hugging. DH took a picture of us together that I'll treasure. Jim has lovely jewelry and had a lot of customers. I hope he has a great show of buyers and not just lookers.

I'm very happy to finally meet the both of them in person. I feel like Jim is a relative or something. They are wonderful people and I hope all of you get the opportunity to meet them someday.

Lolly,

I'd love to have been there when you and Jim met!  What a sight it must have been!  Definitely would have been worth the trip!

That sounds like such a neat show, wonderful setting, beautiful crafts, good food--plus Jim and Darlene, of course!  Thanks for painting such a vivid picture for us.

Lolly, I was really enjoying the story that was unfolding, you wrote it all so vividly, and then the extra surprise of meeting Jim and Darlene. How marvellous! What a gift you have for painting a picture in words! I'd love to read some more of your stories, what a talented writer is hiding behind those mounds of beads!
