The brand new $150 Pireli today picked up a $.10 screw.  3 dealerships & $45 later, I'll have my bike back tomorrow.

1st dealer (mine) - won't patch tires.  They were happy to order me a new $150 tire.  Riiiight.
2nd dealer - Harley mechanics.  They'd be happy to put a tube in it if it'd fit, but I'd have to remove the wheel myself as they don't have metric wrenches.
3rd dealer - very carefully examined the cryptic lettering on the side of the Pireli, & pronounced it was fixable - he has spindly mushroom shaped patches that plug from the inside of the tire - only $45.

I'm pretty well convinced @ this point that however much I've saved on gas in 10,000 miles I've spent on tires, oil changes, & gear.

Good news is I'm not riding but a few miles a day 'round town now, so don't have to chance the mud or deer.

It was lucky to find someone who'd repair. I dont know anyone in my area who will.

I;ve got a rear tire sideways penetrated(its still in the tire), with about 14 ounces of slime, I've been milking over 3000 miles. I stay below 110 mph and have to check its pressure before every ride.

The more the tire wears though, I'll need to replace early, unfortunately my balding front tire is the priority at the moment.

Just watch your traction. Plugs are slick.

Rebel,

Thanks for the warning.  The screw penetrated between the rubber blocks on the dual/sport, so the only time the plug will come into contact w/ anything will be when I'm deep in mud.

I wish motorcycle tires came with some kind of limited warranty from road damage, like broken glass, nails, screws, a warranty good for about 250 miles, give or take.

Long ago I bought some tires from Big O and two days later could not avoid a broken bottle in the road with oncoming traffic in a curve.  Big O gave me a new replacement tire for free.

I always buy tires from Les Schwab, and I suppose maybe there's some limited warranty about damage.

Why can't motorcycle tires get the same deal?

In fact, why can't Les Schwab sell and mount motorcycle tires?  Seems like that would be good for their business.
