I noticed that when I covered a motorcyle with a motorcycle cover the last time I had a lot of corrosion and scratches where the cover rubbed. I find myself sans garage again, so I tried an experiment. I didn't cover the motorcycle as much. Instead I put an anti-corrosive uv resistant spray all over the motorcycle and have had no rust. I still cover the motorcycle in icy snowy weather, but it stays for the most part uncovered. I keep everything thing well lubed as well, cables and chains and things look good. I think the cover did more harm than good.

Scratching, etc, has always been a worry for me where a cover is concerned. The Spouse Thingy bought be one for my scooter in August (because his wood shop is in the garage and there's sawdust flying everywhere) but I haven't used it yet. Aside from the total pain of covering it after a ride and uncovering it before, I just don't want to mess up my paint job...

A dust cover might work just as well. Sounds like you have a garage, so you could just buy one of those California Dusters to take care of the wood dust.

No doggy pics without all that Glare?

If your getting alot of whippage with your tarping, it can scratch.  Its more the method used.

I used a double tarping method that was very heavy and strapped everything down well. True is wasnt located in area of high direct wind jet.  One thing also would be to use a cloth garage cover underneath, so it buffs the paint rather than scratch. This is for home , well secured areas.

Out on the road at night or for work parking, I like a half cover. I used mine for a year and half at work.  I got  more damage from a peice of clay that got in between my seat and tank, that really wore the paint, than  the half cover.

any way, you got to go with what works

but single tarping is not enough, to keep rain and condensation out, but I dont store more than a day with a tarp. Left all winter, there will be condensation damage.   Doesnt you bike fit in that little barn?

I'd have to take the handlebars off to get it in there. Looking at yard barns now, just waiting on a good price.
I have a custom fit cover. No matter how soft of how tied down the cover are the wind will wear the paint and no amount of venting will stop the corrossion from water. Water gets under the motorcycle, humidity rises, wheels corrode.

Dog picture needs to go. I forgot to remove it.
