I haven't painted my nails much in the last year, they started peeling and breaking, and needed a rest from chemicals. But I started up again 3 weeks ago.
I also had to move my bedroom because of a knee injury, so I've been decorating the new bedroom and chose an old fashioned quilt bedspread in green & white to go in it with a white sculptured rug. I've indulged myself... cheaply, but indulged nevertheless.
This morning's nails look like they must have been inspired by that room. Definitely not old fashioned, but lots of green and white. I've been doing more with peek-a-boo manicures - either a single thin coat of color, or no color at all to start so the nail shows through, along with some stenciling for color & interest. Today it's clear, and once I got the flowers stenciled on, I decided I liked the way it looked without a shiny top layer. Knowing the flowers would never last that way, I looked online for a way to make a matte nail polish.
It couldn't have been easier. Simply mix corn starch with your polish on a piece of foil, and presto, a matte finish! I just used a little corn starch, I think if I'd increased it, it would have been even more matte. I made enough to do all 10 nails without wasting too much. What do you think?
