Scruton was also awarded his PhD in January 1973 for a thesis entitled "Art and imagination, a study in the philosophy of mind", supervised by Michael Tanner and Elizabeth Anscombe.
The thesis was the basis of his first book, Art and Imagination (1974), which was followed by The Aesthetics of Architecture (1979). From 1971 he taught philosophy at Birkbeck College, London, a college that specializes in adult education and holds its classes in the evening...

Judicial independence is the rule of laws?
By common sense some people are rather gloomy about the future of the rule of law; however I do not share their doubt. The caution which has been exercised following the publication of the bureaucracy by the community, including the legal profession, particularly the Bar, is hopeful and uplifting. As well supposed, eternal alertness is the price of liberty. In these contentious times, it is all the more important for the rule of law to remain the unshakeable foundation of our society.

Alongside all facts, I wonder if any of the countries where they do not have laws that gives people some form of democracy or adequate protect for their right - don't know what they don't have or losing in the first place.
Sociocracy another form of democratic system of governance based on consent decision making, circle organization, and double-linked representation.

Plato's Ancient 'Democracy' does not apply in the third world with authoritarian laws- we all know that pretty well, people only try on perpetual effort...

If you want to talk about democracy; the rule of law is to accept those that you might hate and be able to criticize them without creating a war to reverse opposed and conflicting thoughts...

Roger Scruton will have a very hard time to find anyone in the Middle East thinking along his peaceful train of thought.
We do know that most of the citizens go by emotional and choleric outburst, revengeful mentality and act to these condition with crushing and violent deeds.
