The 2016 garden has been started! A flat of onion seeds and a flat of All Star Lettuce mix. The lettuce will be clipped with scissors direct to the dinner table. Lettuce won't even see direct sunlight!

Normally this time of year the ground is still frozen and can't be worked. What I'm planting now can be planted as soon as the soil can be worked, even if we may have another cold snap. Pea seeds expected today so they will go in this afternoon.
I set up a calendar with planting/starting dates back from our last expected frost dates. This year I'm going with earlier expected frost date for the calendar.
Seeds have different ideal germination temperature ranges, As you can see spinach will do well at current ground temps. Carrots best wait probably a month.
