Maybe someone out there from the area can let us in on the secret?
I'm cruising along some 30000 feet above Aneth Road around Cortez, Colorado when I spot a series of very strange circles down below, etched right into the foothills of Ute Mountain. What is that? Crop Circles in the sand? Could be undiscovered carvings of ancient tribes, maybe Aliens? Actually ... it does look a lot like I found one of those super secret ICBM silo sites! Am I going to get into trouble for posting about this?
I can't resist taking a closer look. Easy there now!
closer yet ...
This is too weird, maybe I shouldn't be doing this ...

How did you know right off?
Seems weird right in the middle of the desert, they must be tapping into ground water there. It's a huge operation, can't tell what they're growing?
Amazing the details google earth comes up with.

Never taken me long to count my pennies so out of boredom, I'd go outside and look around if not find a book or something. <g> BTW, the farming plains are full of them, the grassland plains not much. As for crops, I don't recall many with corn, lots with wheat and food crops I believe (been awhile since i have been out in season to notice). Fly west instead of 'over the pond', you should see some in farming country.

They're everywhere!
Against the desert sands of Sharjah, eight green circles stand out as the United Arab Emirates cultivates wheat to improve food security in an arid country that imports some 90% of its food.
