Seriously?

This is why I don't do social media.

It's just scary to me.

As I recall it was during the dog days of summer, no news, fox was desperate for something to get Obama.

Until they pointed it out I didn't realize that giving a serious news conference in a casual tan suit is totally inappropriate!

Scary social media for sure ... too many posters insist Trump can declassify documents just by waving his hands and the image of the loot was staged. Of course it was staged, just not the weird way they're thinking.

From what I understand, presidents do have the right to declassify any documents they want, and keep them.  Obama still has millions of documents, and it's ok for him to have them.  So it should be ok for Trump to have the ones he is being accused of having.

Well ...

We know Trump has the idea as President he can do as he wants and his mob totally agrees, they want a despot. A President may indeed be able to declassify documents but there is a way, there are rules on how to do this beyond just waving a magic wand over them.

To start, none of the documents are marked declassified. The image of the haul shows documents marked Top Secret. See the one in front labeled "top secret/sensitive compartmented information." That means the material is considered so sensitive that even those with a top-secret security clearance wouldn't be able to see it unless they had a need to know. That kind of document should not be treated so carelessly.

Trump and his allies claim that the former president issued standing orders to declassify all documents removed from the Oval Office but no one has any record of such an order and top Trump aides have said the claim appears to be patently false. John Kelly, Trump’s chief of staff: "Nothing approaching an order that foolish was ever given,"

Classified or not, by law, at the end of a President's term all documents from notebook doodles to top-secret security plans are supposed to go directly to the National Archives (NARA) as the material is considered the property of the American people, not their personal property.

Obama did it! He did not keep classified info in his desk drawer after leaving office. NARA: Upon the end of Obama’s term some 30 million documents were moved to a NARA-operated facility in the Chicago area, but none were classified. The administration’s classified documents are stored in a separate NARA facility in the Washington, D.C., area.

ohoh ... but wait, there’s  more?

Donald Trump's ex-aides think there are 'more highly classified documents' at other Trump properties

Trump has copies, potentially other documents as well, at other locations including his children’s homes, Weisselberg’s Florida home, Bedminster, NJ golf course, Fifth Avenue apartment, etc…”

Being totally clueless, I had to stop watching the news because almost all of it is horrifying.

If I turn on the TV at the appointed hour, my brain is trying to process "how many dead and how many wounded."

The violence in this country is escalating, and IMHO, Trump is driving this escalation with his hate speech.  It's very sad to me.

Very sad and very scary. I think we all should be very scared.

From some radio show today:

"I will tell you, I will look very, very favorably about full pardons if I decide to run, and if I win. I will be looking very, very strongly about pardons. Full pardons."

He's studied all this but you know it takes money ... "contributions should be made. We have to do that, because you know they have some good lawyers, but even the good lawyers ... you get some of these judges that are so nasty, and angry, and mean,"

Seems he's been unable to pay his lawyers and various event locations from the millions he's raised so far.

The raid was really about ... wait, wait, don't tell me ... Did he really say this?

He's looked very closely and "I think they were looking for Hillary Clinton's emails."

DOJ released more details of the boxes they took, listing content such as photos, newspaper clippings, and clothing mixed with classified documents and other government papers.

There were 48 empty folders labeled with "CLASSIFIED" banners while another 41 empty folders were labeled "Return to Staff Secretary/Military Aide." Nothing is known about the files originally in those folders.

It's  well documented FPOTUS tore up papers and flushed them?

The list is attached to this article:

It is incredible to me that people actually believe TFP won the election.  This man has nothing better to talk about than Hillary.  Is he afraid she'll run against him if he actually manages to get nominated?

I'm just waiting for him to say "I am not a crook."  Lord help us.  We're in trouble.

The first pardon he would give is to himself for treason.

But he won't win -- he can't win.  I don't want to run away from my country, but he will destroy our democracy if he has half a chance.

How did we get here?  OK, we've never been the shining beacon of hope we wanted to be.  But this man and his followers are leading us down such a dangerous path.
