Come finish this sentence, please.

As of Nov 12 no takers?????

No reasons why people believe. Lots of feedback on why not.

Do we believe just because we think we should believe, no reasons to express?

Okay, here's one.

Science proposes no method for the universe to start from nothing.  There had to be a cause. We call that cause god no matter how we describe it. The alternative is that the universe simply always was. In that case the universe must be a perpetual motion system, which science says is impossible. Thus god is necessary. We can argue about what other aspects this god has.

Does god cause life from lifelessness? If so does that put the development of life in the hands of god also. Is god in charge of evolution?

Can we explain why there is life any other way? It's natural? Yes, god is nature.

All this might justify the existence of a god but it does not support any specific religion or any myths about a god.

Why should I believe in an entity called God,

he has given me nothing but words and swords!

In reference to Kelley that lived in a barn, in the back of the 3,700-square-foot home with his current wife and 2-year-old son.

The family had lived there for more than a decade. Dave Ivey, who identified himself as Kelley’s uncle, apologized to the shooting victims in an interview

with NBC News.

Thanks for joining in. It is hard to disagree with you on that.  A god like the bible talks about is just a whisper in the head of the believers. Saner people know it is just their own thoughts. The godly question is still "why do we have life at all?" Where does the universe come from and why is there life? Science has no story for where the universe comes from and says life "just happens"; an effect with no cause ... except god.

The bible is just stories with god as a character. I don't believe the stories but that does not disprove a god of creation.

Where was this god that protects his people? Why pray to a god that does not and can not perform?

So where was 'God' at this dangerous time of moment?

Maybe watching Football and eating manmade popcorn?

Giving an Athlete and a certain team the chance to win big,

Having the team's coach mentioning his name in a comment?

pray

Welcome to the forum and discussion.

Does god have a prime directive to not interfere with the acts of mankind? Then what is the point of prayer?

The bible is filled with examples of god intervening. It seems these things only happen in myths and not in real life.

Talking to people about why they believe I often get the response that god talks to them, telling them to go one way home instead of another or such. The arguments are hard to dismiss. Throughout history people have called this "voice" god, guardian angels, dead relatives, a muse, wind spirits ... some just known it is their own intuition. I would not dismiss the experience. I just don't think it is god. It did not save anybody at the church shooting that I know of.

Is there any report that god told them to stay home that day?

My 2cents"

There's no God, and nothing tells us what to think or do, however there's something called "human intuition" to get right direction, and also animals have it.

A good analysis as far as it goes. Why do we have this intuition? Why is there such a thing as life? Why is the universe not just dead rock?

Why is there a universe?

Strictly putative reasoning. If there must be a cause for every effect what is the cause for life and the universe? "I don't know" may be an honest response but it is not an answer. "God" is an answer, poor as it is.

Hmmm, 118 lookers as of Nov 10. No reasons expressed as to why to believe in god.
