How will robotics and artificial intelligence influence our society? For the good or bad? Good or bad for whom?
Some say it adds jobs. No doubt it will replace many unskilled workers. That is one objective. Damaged people are far more expensive than damaged robots. Yes it will add skilled labor. But the skilled labor added are not the unskilled labor retrained. Those unskilled laborers pushed out the bottom can only go to other unskilled labor jobs ... until they die. Few will be retrained and salvaged.
Unskilled labor unions will be knocked out of the market as companies close manual labor businesses and open automated businesses.
Here is the practicality or rather the reality.
Just a few years ago the four lenders – Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China and Bank of China – were seen as “gold rice bowl” employers for their job stability and decent pay, but slowing economic growth and competition from emerging technology have made many jobs redundant.
Super references. Like many countries China is replacing people with AI and robotics. How many phone calls do you get in a day that are automated instead of human phone staff?
These often put unemployed people with no other skills. These will not likely be retrained for higher jobs. Where do you go after being a crappy unskilled factory worker? The more such people there are the lower their wages and worse their conditions. Can even a communist economy survive this?
It is coming. Be a part of it or get rolled over by it. Can you run and hide from it?
