Had it growing up, it was good on a cold morning.  The first time I asked hubby if he'd like some porridge, he wasn't sure what I was talking about because his family always called it mush.

In the 14th century, and quite possibly in far more recent centuries, Scottish soldiers carried a small bag of oatmeal with them, and a metal plate. They would heat the plate, add a bit of water to the oatmeal to make a oatcake for a meal.

Best steel cut oats is Bob's Redmill. I use a small crock pot or cheese dip server to slow cook oats for 4 hrs. I dry black goji and so I will put a full tablespoon of them in the cereal as well.

If done right ,you'll be eating cereal with a consistency of whole tapioca that is cooked..
