Some informative statistics for Americans for whom the Republicans are considering reducing the unemployment bonus.
bolding mine --MD
Economic output fell at its fastest pace on record last spring as the coronavirus pandemic forced businesses across the United States to close their doors and kept millions of Americans shut in their homes for weeks.
Gross domestic product — the broadest measure of goods and services produced — fell 9.5 percent in the second quarter of the year, the Commerce Department said Thursday. On an annualized basis, the standard way of reporting quarterly economic data, G.D.P. fell at a rate of 32.9 percent.

The number of Americans filing new claims for state unemployment benefits totaled 1.43 million last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
It was the 19th straight week that the tally exceeded one million, an unheard-of figure before the coronavirus pandemic. And it was the second weekly increase in a row after nearly four months of declines, a sign of how the rebound in cases has undercut the economy’s nascent recovery. Claims for the previous week totaled 1.42 million.
What’s more, fears are growing that after rebounding strongly in May and June, the economy has run out of steam, with many states reversing the reopening of businesses.
At the same time, the $600 supplemental weekly unemployment payment from the federal government is ending, a potentially crippling financial blow to millions.

Thanks for posting that article. I stumbled on a mirror of it on another site so I don't use up my very limited views of NYT or WSJ that showed some interesting graphics.
I think I did save the content as a text file in the "~/Documents/News/Civilization_in_Decline/Coronavirus/Economy/" directory on the file server to archive it.

I was finding it still counted down even when viewing them in Incognito mode with FireFox. I think. I've got a "sandbox computer" to experiment with though.
But their stingy articles per month is one reason I don't really read them but will google for some other source that shares the same first sentence or whatever someone quotes as a substitute source.

I try to avoid sites that have auto play videos when I can, that won’t allow you to read a whole article or that redirect to a different one.

You're welcome.
The information was readily available at any number of news websites, like CNN. It was even available on Fox News

Same here. But I found some Firefox settings that kill most auto play videos. And sites that have found hacks to play them anyway, I blacklist.
But sometimes I forget that everyone doesn't use Firefox with AdBlock Plus, UBlock Origin, and NoScript to break a lot of bad behavior on a lot of sites. Surfing the web without these tools is kind of like going into a crowded bar in the midst of a pandemic where at least 3 or 4 patrons and the bartender are coughing up a lung.

The ways to stop the remaining autoplays keep changing as the arms race keeps escalating.
At the moment, here are the top sets of instructions on various methods. I'd tend to periodically google for it (or use duckduckgo or StartPage or Bing to find updated versions)

Autoplaying videos are a scourge. And no, I’m not talking about YouTube, Netflix, or any other site that you visit simply to stream videos. It’s those sites that you go primarily with the intention to read. Instead, you are bombarded by stupid videos that start to play somewhere within a page. ... These videos are just plain pointless for the most part. Not just that, but they also come with increased page loading times and consume tons of bandwidth in the process. ... Thankfully, Firefox now features the ability to block these pesky videos from playing automatically. Finally, you won’t have to rely on extensions (that may or may not work) to help you out in that regard. ...
People using Microsoft Edge are probably just SOL. It's a lot harder to do with Chrome because it's one of the tentacles of Google, whose whole business model is spamming you with paid search results and of course advertising which particularly includes annoying videos that autoplay.
